Did a minor real world test today on the A3000. Listened through a playlist I made, 46 songs during the day, roughly 5 and a half hours elapsed. The songs are all at 192 or above, and at cbr or vbr, depending on the song.

Currently the battery stands at 3/4 full and the specs were volume 13, and EQ on, no shuffle, normal play.

Sadly, I don't have time to do a battery test on the larger A3000 this weekend, I am short on time and rather busy. Most likely next weekend since I will have time then.

As well, I would have to say the front of the new units is rather resistant to scratches, sure there are some small minor ones although you can't really see them until you put it up to the light and look close up.

using it for over a month now, it has fared rather well in the scratch deptartment and I haven't even used a case for it, unless the A1000 which I do use a case, well actually the bag I got with my EX71's is a good carrying case for the A1000 lol.

If the front of these units is that tough, why didn't apple use a similar material?

Well it's been a while now since I wrote anything here, but basically a quick update on the player.

The cover still doesn't scratch that easily, there are some minor small scratches and dings, from the 2 times I've dropped it, other than that nothing major. Uhm there is a large amount of dust now under the cover and I am not sure where it's coming from, I don't want to open it and remove it since I fear I will break something or scratch it.

Other than that, it works fine, sometimes the menus load slower than other times, not sure why, but I don't access the player much now with my playlists. battery life is good, and I recharge it every 2-3 days now, since I use it almost on daily basis when going to school.

I can truly say the player is great, and I have no regrets that I bought it, and am happy that it was a sony that replaced my minidisc and not some other brand. :D

Only disadvantage is sadly the screen now, in bright daylight, it's useless.

If a speck of dust were to be found under the screens of any one of my preivous NW's or MP3 players, I would go absolutely nuts. I'm surprised that with the ammount of dust that could possibly be in your player, you haven't cracked once.

I'm still glad that your enjoying your player. I'm still waiting for mine to be released here (yes, I live in the US). You are a college student, right? I don't think any highschooler can afford such technology :o

high school students get their parents to buy their stuff for them here, at least that is how I know people got their stuff in high school.

I just took a loan for my uni classes and for other payments I have like cell phone and internet, I made a few extra bucks on the side and sold both my MD and CD players so I had enough cash to get the NWA's.

As for the dust, ya it is getting annoying, but I don't care. The surface of the unit doesn't scratch as easily as other products, but I do have some minor scratches and dings from dropping it twice now.
