Can the NW-A1000 be used as a HDD?

Can we transfer the connect player or sonicstage software files to the a1000 and install the programs to another pc from a1000?? and then the mp3 files which are also in the device, can be tranferred to pc.??

And, can we transfer mpeg jpeg or any other exe files to a1000??

yes, the a1000 shows up as a mass storage device.

I can only comment on the 3000 which I have (yet I'm certain the 1000 and 3000 are identicle except size).

You can transfer anything to the device as a file, yet they are not accesable from the device to play as music. You can however say transfer 1000 pictures and a couple of exes to the device, take it to work, and pull them off as an external drive.When you transfer tracks to the player via Connect, they get converted and given a .oma extenstion and can't (yet) be turned back
