Alright I'm new to the MD format, I'v been looking at the Hi-MD models and decided to get a MZ-DH710 becase of its price ($159 CAD). Recording is not a big issue for my music is already on the comptuer.

Now my questions are

1) Is buying a MD player for playback only worth it?

2) Am I gonna get good sound quality compared to other MP3 players?

3) Most of my MP3s are 128bit rate, what Atrac compression would I use to match that?

Ipods aren't an option for me as I need windows XP for iTunes. Also I'm too keen on the limited storage of MP3 players and the eventual replacement of built-in lithium ion batteries.

what are your computer specs?

1/ i like it but many prefer to carry a jukebox player - i use both.

2/ soundquality is subjective. if you listen to mp3s at 128kbs then no matter what you play them through you will get some artefacts. mds do have a weakish headphone amp, as long as you don't use ineffeicient headphones you'll love it.

3/ i'd consider, where posible re-ripping the music you have on cd.

make sure you do install the newest version of sonicstage 3.2 - maybe try it today to make sure it'll run on your computer.
