Thanks for the quick reply. I have the PC Link which connects my MD to the USB port. Is this what you are talking about when you mention the digital(line/optical) input? If so my computer, when I use the SonicStage software does not seem to recognize this link and defaults automatically to the CD drive in order to transfer the songs.

Sorry for sounding like such a dolt but haven't use the MD for three years and now that I am missing all the installation software I forgot how the darn thing is supposed to operate.

You do not need SonicStage to use the PC link. The PC link is like an external sound card, with Toslink out, which you use to record your music real time. Just open your favorite music player, load a playlist, get your MD to record, and let it rip.

thanks Syrius for the information. My only dilema is that when I plug in my PC link my computer tells me that new hardware is intalled however I cannot find the drivers for the PC Link so the computer does not seem to recognize it. I tried recording my MD directly off the sound card however the quality was not all that great.

Do you think I should contact the manufacturer of the PC Link for software for it?

Appreciate your help

No software or drivers are needed. The Xitel is supported natively by windows. I did have the problem you describe when first using the AN1 that came with my R500 and it did not resolve itself until I re-installed windows.

*EDIT* It is worthwhile to note that I had a pretty mucked up install of Windows XP. It was upgraded from Win98. Once I did a clean install it alleviated a lot of problems I was having with USB devices in general.

^^That is my only advice. I have WinXP Pro SP2. It did not work until I did a clean install. I might be able to dig up the thread at the T-Station I started on the same topic.
