Petter156
Hi.Before I started using Sonic Stage (a few days ago) I had read a lot of complaints about it on these forums. To me the software isn´t at all as bad as people have been making it out to be. The user-interface could use some serious tweaking and sure drag-n-drop support in Windows Explorer would be nice - but overall I´m happier with Sonic Stage than I thought I would be.File transfers were a lot faster than I was expecting.Well, on with the gripes...MP3´s transfered to my RH10 sound bad, and this has been discussed heavily already. Using a custom EQ setting improves things a lot and mostly get´s rid of the muddy sound, but bass is sacrificed, not good for on-the-go listening.Well, since SS sems very quick in converting files to ATRAC I´d be happy with using this format. But Sonic Stage wants to choose which files are converted and which are left as MP3´s (files with a lower bitrate than the one specified for transfers). Now, I have varying salection of MP3-files in the 128-192kbps range mostly (with a few even going as low as 96kbps, yikes...) and I would want all transfered songs on my MD as HiSP (or even HiLP in some cases). But apparently I can´t have my way - 128kbps files are not converted. So, finally on with the question...Is there any way to force Sonic Stage to always transcode in HiSP before transfering the files to the minidisc? How would you go by doing this process? Petter156
Continuation of discussion from this thread: http://www.audiotstation.com/forum/showthread.php?p=322607I would really like to here some opinions/advice on how to make my life easier.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Okay... weird as hell...The converted files apparently have to be manually imported back into Sonic Stage (at least I drag-n-dropped). But even then the newly imported files don´t show up as OpenMG audio - they show up as MP3 with the original bitrates. As if I had just copied the original source MP3´s. But, when I go into file properties (through SS that is) the files show up as OpenMG audio 256kbps (which is exactly what I specified when converting) and MP3 320kbps. If I transfer these files they are transfered as MP3. It is only when I delete the original MP3 files (again from the file property window) and do the transfer that the music is transfered in the correct format/bitrate. But deleting the MP3 this way (as opposed to just deleting it from My Library) actually deletes the file from my PC, and that sucks. It is as if SS prefers MP3 files over ATRAC.I´m begining to see why people dislike Sonic Stage. Why Sony? Why does it have to be so impossible to get things done with your software?I know Sony traditionally isn´t a software or even computer industry company, but this is just ridiculous. If anyone knows a way around this hassle (preferably still using Sonic Stage) I would very much apperciate some advice. Converting my entire music collection to ATRAC is not an option as I don´t plan to use SS as my primary music player. Besides, my brother has an MP3 player - so the original material has to stay. Christopher
No offense, but have you read the user manual at the Help section within Sonicstage?
Petter156
No, I haven´t. That´s a lot to read through but maybe I should. I just went through all the settings I could find. What´s on your mind kurisu?
FlameGrilled
'Thats a lot to read through'..??Hell, that's ferk all to read through, the user manuals that come with MD equipment The basics, can be got out of the manuals and condensed into a nice self-written crib-sheet to remind you of the necessary basics A lot of stuff can be pretty much picked up and figured out, without the manuals too. Petter156
Well now I did check the help-file for more information. I ususally don´t have to bother - a lot of software is pretty straighforward and user-friendly and that´s why I wasn´t expecting to find anything new in the intructions for SS. And I didn´t. Now I´m just curious if Kurisu had anything specific in mind when he made his last comment. As far as I can see, there is no setting for what I´m trying to do.
