sebastianbf
Hello everyoneJust want to ask you something guys. I have some 320 kbps mp3s in my computer and I want to record all of them to minidisc. I will be using a digital pc link (so it's a digital recording). What do you think... Should I use Hisp (more disc space) or real SP (worth it?) ?Thanks for your opinions
The Low Volta
why not convert them to wav and just import them in SS, convert them to HiSP on the PC and transfer? the codecs in SS3.2 have had more development time than the ones in the recorder itself, and by converting to wav first you don't lose any quality (but you could actually just import them into SS as MP3's and let SS do the conversion)what makes you think recording in realtime would improve SQ? Sparky191
if your transcoding from MP3 to ATRAC your compromising the quality, so any point in using SP is completely negated. I would say re-rip the original material from CD to HiSP. Thats the best compromise, SQ/Size and sounds close enough to the orignal CD in the portable enviroment. For me I find using the original CD rather than a MP3 makes a bigger difference in sound quality than messing about with realtime, cables, and SP etc. Mind you if you are happy with the sound transcoding from MP3 to ATRAC then go with it. You're the final judge of what you like and don't like.

(I will record entire albums). About the other thing Volta, what do you recommend: convert the mp3 to wav then import to SS in HISP and then transfer, or import the mp3 with SS and let SS convert and transfer the mp3?Thanks if your transcoding from MP3 to ATRAC your compromising the quality, so any point in using SP is completely negated. I don't understand why I'll be compromising the quality converting from mp3 to atrac (hi-sp). Remeber it's just a mp3 file at 320kbps. Transferring through SS is gapless. The playback from HiMD through SS is not gapless, standalone playback (via Headphones) is gapless. However, if you want crossfade like Winamp does, that is not available on SonicStage. I do not have any technology that requires MP3, so I never use that (and as such I do not need to recode it either)sorry
