Lemmy
I am disappointed by the limited mp3 support in the MZ-RH10. It seems that anything not encoded at 44100KHZ can't be played. I haven't tested this properly, but so far, every spoken word podcast I've downloaded can't be played on the MZ-RH10. Of course most of them are mono 22050 or 11025.Very short-sighted of Sony. If you're going to support a format, do it properly....!Have i missed an easy way to transfer to a usable format using SonicStage?

Bite the sour apple and convert the files to ATTRAC
Syrius
Or use one of the many free encoders out there (Old versions of Musicmatch work wonders) and convert to MP3 44Khz at your desired bitrate above 64, of course.

Lemmy
Yes, you might have misse one opportunity. Bite the sour apple and convert the files to ATTRACHi,When I try to convert my mp3 file to ATRAC (mmm, nice'n'lossy) the file is still unplayable. I presume because the original is 24KBit.Mp3 details: MPEG 2.0 layer 324kbit, 154436 frames22050Hz MonoI'm using SonicStage for the conversion, and trying various ATRAC formats - e.g. 132, 64.So I have to convert the bitrate using audio editing software, then the compression format using SS?Thanks. raintheory
So I have to convert the bitrate using audio editing software, then the compression format using SS?Thanks. You should be able to just convert with the audio editing software, and then transfer the resulting mp3 directly to the RH10 (without re-encoding to Atrac in Sonicstage). sebastianbf
You can convert the files with dbpowerAmp. Great aplication and very easy to use. Search for it in the forum's download section
Terence Kelly
Hi,When I try to convert my mp3 file to ATRAC (mmm, nice'n'lossy) the file is still unplayable. However you must then delete the MP3 from the library or SS insists on sending the unconverted file to your minidisc. If you use the RH10 in NetMD mode, (use a standard MD) SS will convert the file automatically and send the atrac file without your intervention.TK
Lemmy
Hi,I hadn't tried converting in SS before transferring - that might make life easier.Thanks!P.S. that's really confusing that the converted files are moved off to an "optimized files" folder, and only the original is still visible in the library. That's where i was going wrong before. Edited October 1, 2005 by Lemmy
Guest NRen2k5
Apple proprietary format meets Sonys....Wrong-o. Podcasting has nothing to do with Apple.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PodcastingSpecifically, read this part of the wikipedia entry.
