tropepe
I was wondering if someone could tell me what are good specs for a portable md player and which md holds these features. I am talking about things like the atrac. Features are not as important as sound quality.
Skradgee
Oy. First off, welcome to the forums. As for high quality Atrac3plus recording, you should always use the PCM or Hi-SP recording modes unless you are recording things like speech or dictations. Hi-LP prettymuch just doesn't cut it for high-quality music recordings. As for what model to get, well, that's for you to decide. do some research with the 'Equipment Browser' at minidisc.org and check out the Hi-MD models. Some have been discontinued, but you may be able to find a few of those on eBay or other online retailers. I'd go with an MZ-NH1, MZ-NH900, or (the model I just bought) MZ-RH10. Have fun. Poodle
The Sony RH910 is a great alternative to the RH10 if you don't need a fancy fluorescent (OLED) screen. Otherwise the RH10 and 910 appear to be identically featured, with a digital amp which gives superb sound quality. These are the current highest spec MD recorders. Here are some specs:http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sony_MZ-RH10.htmlhttp://www.minidisc.org/part_Sony_MZ-RH910.html Edited October 5, 2005 by Poodle

I have the MZ-RH910 and it is a great model. I was tempted by the RH10 but at 100 dollars more the draw wasn't there to pay. The only step up for it is OLED display, a non-display remote and a better body (metal and great design). Otherwise the exact same features.
