MiniDiscist
I have a Sony MZ-NH900 and I was wondering how to adjust the recording level on my previous recordings. I set the recording level too loud and the sound breaks up so I'm trying to bring the level back down. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Roamer
Upload your record to your PC, and try to adjust level with Audacity (or similar tools). If you have saturation in your recordings (over 0 db during recording), there is probably not much that can be done ....
A440
If you were trying to record loud music or music with strong bass, the preamp on the MD probably overloaded. Once you get that distortion and clipping it can't be removed. To get better recordings of loud sounds, here's an inexpensive trick.http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=9069 And here are some basics: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showt...993entry49993
soundalike
I've tried this by 'tweaking' a very heavily distorted concert using Audacity and found it very frustrating (even upsetting!) as I've never achieved satisfactory results. That said, I'm rubbish at using Audacity (if anyone knows of an idiot's guide, please inform). I've found that the only solution is to get better at live recording - but this doesn't help you much I'm afraid!
