minidix
Is it possible to download mp3's on MD disks with a first gen. Hi-MD unit like MZ-NHF800 using Sonic Stage and without transcoding? I just want to listen the mp3's later, when I'll buy a new unit, a second gen. one (or maybe third ). greenmachine
You can save them in data mode, but they won't be directly playable. Transfer in audio mode is only possible with >1st gen.
minidix
You can save them in data mode, but they won't be directly playable. Transfer in audio mode is only possible with >1st gen.I was afraid of that. So I won't be able to use a player only unit for Mp3's (if Sony will ever build one) and the NHF800 as a downloader. Thank you very much for the answer
bobt
transcoded mp3's sound just fine in first generations, remember mp3 is not a fidelity mode, if you want the best sound go right off the cd, otherwise it is a very easy job to get mp3 onto your unit, and the disc will play in a second generation unit, it will be in Atrac not mp3.You will still also have the mp3's on your puter if you want to do something else with themjmhoBob
El Eddie
"remenber mp3 is not a fidelity mode"!? Well, is certainly not HI-Fi when you have an mp3 and have to re-encode it to be able to hear the song. But a mp3 can be quite Hi-fi my friend. At least without the stupid restricions of Sony products.
