TalwinHawkins
I hope im not posting a question thats already been answered but im really struggling.I just followed you instructions about installing sonicstage from scratch, the whole regedit bit, closing all programs, installing the Inf file in windows etc etc but nothing works.I follwed your instructions and it DID actually say instalation complete (more than i usually get) and i restarted my computer. when i try to open it i still get the Fabled:"Cannot find the OpenMG Secure module. Exiting SonicStage (Error code: 00005607)"Ive tried every version of Sonicstage i can get my grubby hands on and none seem to work. I have succesfully managed to instal it on my Laptop but its incredibly old and very slow so it takes 25-30mins for 1 CD. I just cant seem to instal it on this machine. Anyhelp would be much appreciated.I am using Microsoft XP ProVersion 2002Serice Pack 2This is according to System in Control panel.Oh and heres the HiJack this stuff people ask for:Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1Scan saved at 13:19:30, on 06/11/2005Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600)MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180)Running processes:C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exeC:\Program Files\Ahead\InCD\InCDsrv.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\LEXBCES.EXEC:\WINDOWS\system32\LEXPPS.EXEC:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exeC:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG Free\avgamsvr.exeC:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG Free\avgupsvc.exeC:\Program Files\Belkin\Bluetooth Software\bin\btwdins.exeC:\Program Files\F-Secure Internet Security\fswsclds.exeC:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exeC:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXEC:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exeC:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG Free\avgemc.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exeC:\WINDOWS\SM1BG.EXEC:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\WCESCOMM.EXEC:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exeC:\Program Files\Belkin\Bluetooth Software\BTTray.exeC:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exeC:\Program Files\WinRAR\WinRAR.exeC:\Documents and Settings\Alex Sullivan\Desktop\work\HijackThis.exeR1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/...rch/search.htmlR1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/...//www.yahoo.comR1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/...://my.yahoo.comR1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/...//www.yahoo.comR1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/...//www.yahoo.comR0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/...//www.yahoo.comR1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Window Title = Microsoft Internet ExplorerR1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = localhostO2 - BHO: Yahoo! Ishiyoshi
Welcome to MDCF!Let's try this once more:1) Uninstall SonicStage and OpenMG via "Add/Remove Programs."2) Delete the following directories: "Documents and Settings/All Users/Application Data/Sony Corporation and/or Sonicstage", "Program Files/Common Files/Sony Shared", "Program Files/Sony/Sonicstage and /Personal Audio Driver". Similiar directories should be found in lesser Windows operating systems.3) Use Registry Cleaner such as RegCleaner to erase any further remnants within the following section: "Software" and "Uninstall Menu."4) Reboot and check that SonicStage is not present in your system.5) Install SonicStage 3.3 from one of this link depending on your location. In addition, please expand a little on your system specs. If problem still persists, let me know and I will include OpenMG Secure Module 4.3.00.08302 later. Ishiyoshi
Edit: Ok you edited. I will reboot but how do i know everything about the software is gone from my system? I will wait on this reply before i try a reinstall.Just review your registry, RegCleaner and check the directories within your system to be sure that SonicStage is not present. Then install SonicStage 3.3 once again.

Ishiyoshi
I'm running out of ideas. The problem you've encountered is not regular. Are you able to run SonicStage and at least view its "splash" graphic as shown below? In some cases, you may need to direct SonicStage (if asked) to the OpenMG Secure Module you have just downloaded. Perhaps, someone else can shed a light at this point.

wolfiez
I just installed the Open MG with a /j after setup.exeExample: "C:\Download\SS33\OpenMG\Setup.exe /J"And I got it to appear in the Add/remove programs. I however couldn't install the patch. I'll try that after a reboot. Edited November 21, 2005 by Wolfiez
Christopher
Hmm. Do you have the option to uninstall Service Pack 2 in Add/Remove Programs? You could always download the manual installion for Service Pack 2 (or the automated), put it on a disc and install it again. Sounds like something is definitely wrong with Windows. ddrummond
Greetings!I have had nearly identical problems installing SonicStage. I am running Windows XP Home, version 2002, Service Pack 2, with automatic updates.Computer is Dell 1.50 GHZ, 256 MB RAMplayer is MZ RH10 (for what that's worth)I upgraded to XP from ME (when I tell Sony Support that it is not factory-installed OS, they will not help. That seems highly BOGUS).I have tried all recommendations listed on this forum, except the new OpenMG install, which I will try tonight.I receive the same error message (Error Code 00005607). The installation then proceeds, but I cannot open SS, says cannot find OpenMG Secure Module.I tried installation from the supplied CD; from SS3.2 downloaded from web; and SS3.3 downloaded from web. Same problem persists. These installations work fine on my computer at work, Windows 2000, SP4.Details from aborted install are attached.Any help will be much appreciated, as this has become very frustrating!
