Toddz
Hello..I own a mz-nh700 which I bought over a year ago and keep feeling that I since i never use the record button or even swap the 1 gig disc that I should have just bought a regular sony mp3 1 gig player? I love the unit itself but does anyone else feel or has felt the same way? Before i sold my mz-nh700 i was using the md like yourself very rarely taking the 1 gb disc out of the player,i decided for some reason to leave mini disc and try out other players,a flash unit only and then nwhd-3,vaio pocket, iriver h10,and finally rio carbon...i spent many an hour recording cd`s to these units but only found myself listening to maybe 10 cd`s or more..anyway i felt like i was missing something somewhere mainly litening to the music i had got myself into a rut of listening to the technology more than anything else, spent hour upon hour trawling reviews of units making sure the latest unit i had was seemn in a good light by the community etc... anyway i decided to take the plunge back into mini disc again with the mz-nh900 very recently and have found myself again just listening to one hi-md disc mostly... there is nothing wrong with that at all just enjoy your music,i dont use record,,or mics or anything else really but am happy being in the mini disc community with like minded people who know how to enjoy there music but also having one of the best electronic players out there..i myslef have had many thoughts and felt awkward and guilty for using it just for playback but and perhaps iwas missing something somewhere but am just happy to be back where i feel i belong!!!!regardstoddz
AMPlitude
often, i feel like that, yes i do but then again i, like toddz found that i still prefer minidiscs for some reason...
lecram1971
I also want to change to HDD, but the for me must be one with Atrac (gapless I hate MP3 for that) and must be 30 gb or higher. But now I decided I keep my minidisc, (I will love it more if will be a bigger disk than 1 gb), specially because I record things I never will have in a HDD.That is the best, may be you don´t use it as a recorder everyday, but you have the posibility any time you want it, and that is not, for me, underuse. raintheory
I'm on same page as ynos... I use mine every day, more than I use any other media, including CD. So I get plenty of use.
KJ_Palmer
Since I got my HD5, my MD units have been getting less use outdoors, but I still use them at home a lot, and for any recording I have to do.
sebastianbf
You'll always feel that way (underusing the md) until you have to record some speech or maybe your music library gets bigger and you can't transfer any more songs to your HDD because you're out of memory. RobA
For me, you can't miss features you don't have and my 600D has no mic port, and thats ok with me since I don't record. I use my MD everyday.

iggunr
i own a MD-NH700 too, and i love iti always wanted to buy a nice remote or a mic, but when i think of it, i realise that i don't use it too much, i have only one 1gb hi-md and i never needed more, i think that if i have something worth upgrading, at least i need to use it more often.i was thinking about this and i started to use it more, and i saw that i need a remote, i've always have been searching for the best ones.anyway, what do you think i should get?-radio enabled remote (RM-MC37LT image, i can get it in $60)or-a HI-MD remote (RM-MC40ELK image from audiocubes.com, $79)use more your MD!! it deserves it!!! KJ_Palmer
Yep, been in the HD5 club for a few weeks now, and I'm loving it, I must say. I bought the 30GB version in London fior £190 - couldnt resist it... :-PMD still rules at home - for timed recording from DAB radio (cant do that with a DAP), and MD's played through the deck sound much better than the HD5 through line out. For portable use, the HD5 is much easier to use than switching MD's. I've got a ton of albums on it and still used less than 10GB!. So, there's a place for everything.. KJ, do you mean that MD is better SQ than HD5?
KJ_Palmer
Well, I think my JB980 deck beats my HD5 through line out into hi-fi amp/stereo speakers, that's all. Through headphones they're pretty much the same at similar bit rates, both are excellent sounding in other words. And all in all, 292kbps legacy MD recorded on a high quality MD deck is pretty near perfect as you get (IMO). andysnap
KJ, do you mean that MD is better SQ than HD5?Like KJ I find my HD3 (v.cheap Sony refurb, from eBay seller) very convenient for out n about, taking up next to no space in my camera bag, but I do find the sound quality from my NH-1 to be just that little bit better, just a little more clearly defined, a touch cleaner. And the NH1 is a very, very lovely thing . . . . the HD3 just a hard drive music player Andrew
Halliday
I have about 1 dozen MD's. I use one for Podcasts and the others music. Really I only swap out 1 music disk and my Podcast disk. I just like those songs.

mcca6392
There have been times with both my N707 and my RH10 that I feel the same way as you do.Many times, it's a matter of not wanting to use the software with the units. I've never had luck with Sony OEM software working perfectly on my PC, no matter what the heck I do to correct it.It was really bad with Open MG Jukebox - and that may be one of the reasons why I didn't use my N707 as much as I do my RH10.I can also attribute that to being more 'into' music these days, using the recording functions for collegiate lectures and journalism projects, and the fact that Hi-MD is, in my mind, awesome. Much less swapping of discs occurs with the RH10 than with my legacy formats...It also varies mainly due to what's going on from week to week. Sometimes, I don't really have time to sit down and play with my portable; other comittments (sadly) must come first. That's really about all I can come up with to explain why I 'underuse' it at times.I swear I'm getting better...really, I am!
