fishstyc
Hi,I am very happy with my nh700, but for recording a remote with a backlit screen would be more useful. I know the nh900 comes with the rm-mc38el, which is pretty ok. Are there others that are better?Another important question, where can you buy these separately in Europe, and at what price? The Low Volta
the best recording remote is the RM-MC40ELK as it has a three lines, backlit LCD which also (the only remote to do this) shows rec-levels...here's a bit more infoand then there is always the remote guideI got mine from buyfromjapan on ebay ... very reliable, no import taxes and new in the box

Silly35
Hello !Is there a remote with the RECORD function for Hi-MD devices ? Or can I use an older remote from a NetMD (with record function of course) to use with my NH900 ?
A440
As far as I know, Sony never got the bright idea of putting a Record button on a remote. Best you can do is set the unit on Rec/Pause (and manual volume settings, etc.) and use the Pause button on remote to Un-Pause and start it. I'm spoiled by the RM-MC40ELK, which is backlit, shows record levels, has the ability to change them (as long as you're in Manual) and a remote Track marking button (P-Mode). It doesn't have a record button, and you have to use the REC SET menus on the unit, and in quiet recordings it add bits of static when you change settings (though this hasn't happened to me often). Still the best available, though.
tekdroid
As far as I know, Sony never got the bright idea of putting a Record button on a remote. There's something inside me that is busting to know why this hasn't happened yet, but I just accept this as a part of life. It seems so logical, I can't think of any reasons why it's not implemented. To the original poster: Another vote for the RM-MC40ELK; I just wish it wasn't so easy to scratch the clear front plastic (I'm sure it's not the only remote that suffers from this). Legibility in full sunlight as well as darkness is both good, though not as bright with the backlight as some other remotes as I understand, but it seems to be the best of the bunch. Adjusting levels manually on the remote itself (with the jog wheel) in complete darkess (or full sunlight) is essential to my sanity. 3 line display. Need I say more.. dex Otaku
One of the possible reasons Sony don't make remotes with recording functions...see here:http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=13335
