joe_lee_sy
Hi, I just got a Sony HiMD and would like to see if there is any other way than analoguely recording all the contents on HiMD to .wav and convert them to MP3. I don't have a Sony Vaio. So obviously I cannot burn the ATRAC directly to MP3/CDs. Right now I'm recording the playback of ATRAC (transferred from Hi MD to PC) using Wave Lab. And it takes YEARS...Thanks,Joe
Syrius
The transfer from Hi-MD to wav is digital. Not analog. If what you want is direct MP3 conversion, get Marcnet's Hi-MD Renderer. It can convert your uploaded Oma files to MP3 in a couple of minutes.Recording after uploading on the computer? A440
Which version of SonicStage are you using? You can make .wav copies as you upload or pick tracks in My Library and "Save in .wav" (under Tools). Then you can convert the .wav to mp3 with dppoweramp, in Downloads. Get SonicStage 3.3 from Downloads. Among its other good features, it allows you to upload from your MD not once, but an unlimited number of times. Or if for some strange reason you want to keep using an older SonicStage, use HiMDRenderer (also in Downloads, of course) as Syrius suggests. Sparky191
You don't need a Sony Vaio to use SonicStage it works on any PC. I get the impression you are recording via analog. You should use the USB cable and transfer digitally. Version 3.3 as others have mentioned. Do you have the manual for the NH700. I assume its all in there. rei-gouki
Umm, Sparky191... joe_lee_sy hasn't mentioned what HiMD he/she has, though the profile mentions an NH1.But yeah, the manual is in 2 parts, the first is the usual stuff about the unit and the back part is on the Sonic Stage software. I think the instructions are for ver 2.xx but most of it does apply to even the latest version of Sonic Stage - version 3.3. The major differences are as mentioned. It's strongly suggested that you get 3.3 if your computer has the minimum requirements as it's main strength/difference is that you can upload more than once. Sparky191
Umm, Sparky191... joe_lee_sy hasn't mentioned what HiMD he/she has, though the profile mentions an NH1....OP said HiMD. The process is the same for all HiMD units. AFAIK. So it doesn't matter which one we're talking about. Besides you install SS 3.3 then plug the HiMD in via USB. Its not much harder than that. Transfer to the PC, convert to WAV, then encode them all to MP3. Once you have the tracks as WAV it doesn't really matter what encoder you use. I prefer Audiograbber and Lame. Or even iTtunes if I'm lazy.
joe_lee_sy
Guys: You just SAVED MY DAY!!! The Render (052) works perfect with uploaded OMA files!! Yes, I do use a MZ-NH1 and a Sharp 702. I have a ton of MD ('basic version', not Net, LP, dadada..) that I want to convert to MP3s/CDs. I have no choice but play it back on the 702 and record it to the MZ-NH1 (and that's what I meant by 'analogue recording' earlier). But having to play it back again on SonicStage while recording it on WaveLab to do the ATRAC-WAV conversion WAS agonizing...BTW, I am a he...You guys rock!J
