FergusF
Hi all,I did 2 voice recordings recently with my RH10, the battery was low so I used the mains power while recording, I used MM-BSM-9 binaural microphones. I could hear a distinct hum while monitoring the interview using headphones and the hum was even worse when I uploaded the recording using SS 3.2. Why am I getting this hum? can anyone help?I wish you all a very happy Christmas and a great 2006!Regards,Fergus
greenmachine
Don't use the mains power for recordings from analog sources. This introduces the hum (although way quieter when recording via line-in). Use battery power instead, whether internal and/or external. I have been charging my RH10 for over 6 hours and it still says "charging". Does the charging message dissapear when the unit is fully charged of will it keep showing the charging message?regards & thanks,Fergus
greenmachine
It should interrupt the charging process automatically after up to about 3.5 hours. Anything significantly above could damage the battery and/or recorder. You're not charging via USB, are you?Recording obviously requires more power than playback, but you should still get a few hours out of a fully charged battery. Here are two excerpts shamelessly stolen from the user's manual:[attachmentid=1262][attachmentid=1263]

e1ghtyf1ve
Whoa Fergus you might wish to carefully inspect the battery for venting damage and damage to the recorder. Also, make sure that the battery contacts are clean. Charging continuously for 6 hours will cause the battery to overheat, swell, release gases, and possibly burst. I would replace the battery ASAP.Cheers
