Christopher
EQ Magazine has a brief piece on the Edirol R-1 and MZ-M100, highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of both devices accordingly. The review goes on to say about MD, "..a consumer format that flopped in the U.S., but was reborn as the pro’s choice for field recording, interviews, and other audio-on-the-go applications." -cgm+++Click on the image below for the full review: Edited December 25, 2005 by kurisu

Christopher
I would've preferred some sound samples from the author of this piece. I have heard it in action before here:http://ad.impress.co.jp/tie-up/roland0503/index.htmScroll down a bit and you'll see the 16- and 24-bit recording samples available for download. tekdroid
nice, let's hope there's more competition in this price range and lower.Gonna check out the samples later since I'm out the door now. (btw, sorry about quoting your whole post in my reply) Happy Holidays
e1ghtyf1ve
This is one of the most accurate comparisons I've seen in years. The battery life stats were a bit dodgy, and no mention was made about the R-1's seriously crude construction, but overall it's a breath of fresh air.Cheers
rayzray
Great newzz:: i was interested in both;; use too much md's lately;; just bought three DVD recorders to start taking MD's jobs in my studio;; considering the R-1 and the others;; but guess DVD'ing is now my "Bagg";; and it's gonna be MD'ing and DVD'ing combination..i speak as a "Pro" and not an MD'er;; but soon i may be like yous;; and just enjoy..
