theblueraja
You know how when you would burn a CD using something like Nero, and last minute you wish to clip off the end of a track, pump the audio, or clip the head? You could just open up a built-in wav editor, take care of it, and burn. How I wish I could do this with Sonic Stage... instead, I have to rip the whole track from CD to WAV using another program, then edit the wav, and then IMPORT the wav into SS using file import, separate from the CD import of the other tracks.Am I right that there is no other way? sebastianbf
i think i disagree with you. Instead of adding new features I would like to see SS running in your computer without so much memory requeriments. It would be nice to play a memory eater game with SS playing your minidisc in the background in a "lite" way, i mean no needing so much resources. Of course I'm speaking from my point of view, since i have a normal computer (Athlon 2000, 256ram).I know sometimes it's very time consuming to edit some tracks in other programs like Goldwave, but i prefer using a very complete program for editing than use some crappy edit add-on from our friends Sony. theblueraja
Point well taken. I normally use SoundForge actually.
KJ_Palmer
Sonicstage does allow dividing and combining for ATRAC files though, so presumably the same routines could also be used for Wav, and even MP3 files. It doesn't usually take more than a minute or 2 to edit wav files in Audacity etc., so I don't find it a huge inconvenience, once I know the location of the files... KJ_Palmer
It's under the Edit menu, TBR - I think you need at least SS3.0. Divide and Combine. Even allows you to rehearse the divide point (like on a deck). They're the only editing functions (as well as delete of course) though and only on ATRAC 3(+) files. Thx.
atrain
you need to select individual track the use the edit menu, you'll see extra options, divide if one track's selected, combine if multiple.
willtonMD
after youve converted the omg / oma file into a wav file for editing using HiMDRenderer , have you had any trouble with SS3.3 not being able to play the wav in pcm format?I do exactly what you do - edit tracks and create new ones in wav and reimport them back into SS.Of course the limitations on doing this are an attempt by Sony to control the rights management stuff. Im glad youve highlighted how to combine tracks in SS - i thought i could only do that on the unit. Who hooo!
zerodB
If you have a deck that supports scale factor edit, you can also add fade-ins and fade-outs, or pump the volume up/down post recording, in addition to the usual divide/combine track edits. This is done on the unit though, not with SonicStage. Just stopping playback might be easiest.Make sure (right click-properties-file info-file format) that the track(s) are ATRAC only (no other formats can be edited)If you want to divide a track, highlight it by clicking once (but make sure it doesnt play)If you want to combine 2 or more tracks, highlight em allGo to Edit at the top of the SS screen. The Divide and/or Combine options should now be available.Hope that helps... I started having problems w/ SS 3.3, and I can't find my SS 3.2 disc, so I'm using 3.0. However, I tried the "divide" action last night; successfully split one track, and when I tried to split it again, I got an error message, then I could not longer play the track at all and I got a Sony popup message about trying to pay for a download of the track I do not have copyright to anymore Needless to say, I'll stick with SoundForge. Thanks, all.
