0 sh33p
i don't even know what the HD1 looks like. My first introduction to sony hdd players was the HD3. you mean the HD1 shipped WITHOUT mp3 compatability? =\ who would buy one?
0 nw_lover
Sadly it will never happen because HD5 has no wma decoder. Sony used for HD5 there own processor (CXR704060-201GA) which has no wma support.Btw it’s the same processor for E400/E500 and A600. In case of A600 sony added a wma decoder chip (IC 601 / LC823231N) to have wma supportThis chip is missing in HD5,E400 and E500 series. (and it’s not possible to add it) For the new A1000/3000 Sony used a new audio processor form Freescale (IC 6005 / SCF5250) This audio processor has a lot of features like WMA support (incl. DRM), lossless Codec (Flac,Ogg) support or even JPEG and Video function.I hope sony will enable some more codec in the futureFor more information check out the website : http://www.freescale.com/webapp/sps/site/p...rH3YTLC00M93109
0 Ascariss
Where does it state on the website that it has video function?
0 nw_lover
use google and you will find it :http://www.finanznachrichten.de/nachrichte...kel-4978032.asp it's to complicated to find all features on the webside :-)and it seams to be the same processor as Cowon used for there iAudio X5 20GB (with video function) Edited December 30, 2005 by nw_lover
0 Ascariss
Thanks for that. The chip is rather impressive with huge possibilites now that I look at it. If all that is in the chip, perhaps it is only a matter of time before sony begins turning on the options.Anyone know if the OLED in the A series hDD can be changed from one colour to multi? or does it need a new OLED with colour? 0 Guest Stuge
nw_lover,Thanks for the information but the same time Heart Breaking Also. But what about Hd3,Hd1.But can they add Atrac Lossless & Atrac new bitrate support in older players? 0 ajitp
is the OLED one color or two. Because if it like the HD5 displays both white and black pixels, i expect it could show pixels of the colors inbetween black and white. 0 sh33p
black pixels are simply unlit pixels...... lit pixels are white... consequently the only colours you'll get are black, white, or a variation in the intensity of the white to create an illusion of grey.
