I only have a old MZ-R70 which only supports the very early MD 74 and MD 80 format. Therefore I'm thinking of buying a Hi-MD device. Thing is I already own an iPod and I don't really need a new music player. All I want to do is store files on my MD's. Any suggestions? A440 Posted February 5, 2006 Report Share Posted February 5, 2006 As Greenmachine said, the NH600D will do the job, but why not just burn the files to CD-R? greenmachine Posted February 5, 2006 Report Share Posted February 5, 2006 An advantage of MD is its HDD-like, rewritable structure, which allows certain files to be deleted/added/replaced without formatting/erasing the disk first. The media itself might also be more durable, although i agree with a possible lack of hardware availability in the future. Speed is only a drawback if you need to back up relatively large (or lots of smaller) files. Personally i use HDD or CD-/DVD-R(W) for large files and flash media for smaller file backup like text documents.If you don't want to back up, but are just short of space, i'd consider a larger HDD instead.
