Kaineda77
Hi there, i was just wondering why MD is best for recording. Is it simply the way the players are made or is there a general advantage between recording on Md or recording on a harddrive. Posed differently, could it be (technically) that tomorrow a HD-Recorder comes out which is as good?
atrain
Posed differently, could it be (technically) that tomorrow a HD-Recorder comes out which is as good?quite easily. at the moment there is no comparable recording option in terms of unit price, medium price, portability or battery life for the semi-pro/am market.it could be a flash or hdd recorder comes out & blows himd out of the water & given the technical know-how on this board the superior format would win out imo. Top Cat
In my estimation the next best recording solution in today's MD's price range will be available in 5-6 years and it's gonna be a CF recorder, something like Sony PCM-D1 offered now for $2k
MDGB2
Can't beat good ol' removable 'mechanical' media.
greenmachine
Most importantly, the quality of the analog section is quite high.
e1ghtyf1ve
Most importantly, the quality of the analog section is quite high. This, along with microphone quality and placement, cannot be emphasized enough. All the digital bits in the world won't make a difference if the analog sections can't keep up. The little HiMD recorders strike a brilliant balance in this regard.
