NO-quasimoto
Hi. After having bought a NW A-1000 and having problems with the crappy Connect player software for 3 months I decided to try Sonicstage 3.4However, Sonicstage crashes on my computer as well. It’s the oh-so-wonderfull:"Omgjbox.exe has encountered a problem and needs to Close...." error mentioned on this forum so many times. You now probably think I have not read any of the response posed for this problem, but yes, I have. I DO have Windows XP PRO SP2, which should leave out the pre SP2 hot fix issue. I have tried to reinstall Sonicstage, even with Sony’s own Sonicstage removal tool, but with no luck. The dam program crashes anyway.Does anyone know a solution to the problem that does not concern the hot fix issues when running Sonicstage 3.4 on Windows XP WITH SP 2?My setup:Sonicstage 3.4 and Connect player 1.0.3AMD Athlon Xp 2800+1 gb ram600 gb hd SATA (2 disks in raid 0)Windows XP PRO SP2 (English) with ALL available updates.USB 2.0.No firewall or antivirus installed.Omgjbox.exe error message:AppName: omgjbox.exe AppVer: 3.4.1.13062 ModName: aclayers.dllModVer: 5.1.2600.2180 Offset: 000131db Edited February 6, 2006 by NO-quasimoto
Richard
ACLayers.dll is the dll used by Windows to run apps not natively compatible with XP in compatibility mode. This is normally done by modifying the shortcut to the app and choosing a compatibility mode from the compatibility tab. Can you make sure you're not running SS in any compatibility mode. Also run an anti-virus check and spyware check as apparently there is spyware out there known to modify registry entries relating to this dll. NO-quasimoto
Sorry. The Omgjbox.exe error message was from when I tried to run Sonicstage 3.4 in Windows 2000 compability mode (which didn't work either). When running with no compability mode set, Sonicstage still crashes but with this error message:AppName: omgjbox.exe AppVer: 3.4.1.13062 ModName: l3codecx.axModVer: 1.5.0.50 Offset: 000015aaAnd I have run both Hitman pro 2.3 (http://www.hitmanpro.nl/) and AVG antivirus software with negative results. I've removed them for now to see if they where causing problems with Sonicstage.Anyone have clue what my problem can be?
A440
I just googled that 13codecx.ax and found this:http://msmvps.com/blogs/chrisl/articles/10723.aspxTry it--it can't hurt.
raintheory
Alternately, you could try reinstalling/updating windows media player, that should fix the codec issue.
Richard
Alternately, you could try reinstalling/updating windows media player, that should fix the codec issue. Also it's not entirely clear from your original post when exactly SS crashes out with this error (at startup? when trying to play back MP3's / when converting files etc..)As A440 says it may be worth trying to re-register the encoder used by WMP. Do you have any specfic codec packs installed that may indicate to you/us that this is indeed the issue?
