Dump Connect - Get SonicStage

Got an A3000 for Xmas - first MP3 player ever owned, so naturally assumed the bundled Connect software would be most appropriate.

After a week of agonising use (painfully slow to open and use; leaving gaps in library display; incapable of recognising audio CDs with any data content; full sync missing out albums/artists), I installed SonicStage 3.3, imported all my ATRAC files, and deleted Connect.

Subsequently managed to achieve in 2 hours what I had been trying to do for 2 days (i.e. full and clean sync between PC and A3000). Everything about SonicStage is faster, more intuitive, and generally works as it should.

If you buy an A1000/A3000, dont even open the Connect CD.

The answer is yes.

Which ones, I don't know. Definitely ArtistLink. I asked what else in another thread, if I find the answer I will post the link here.

You can say goodbye to artistlink, play history, and all the intelligent shuffles. The units need CP to update all this and link with the library, otherwise using SS will make those features non functional.

I should mention to anyone reading this, ajwhitehead is only stating his opinion, there are plenty of people on this board including myself that have gotten CP to work normaly and with no problems.

SS in reality is much more worse than CP when you look really close.

my artist link never worked when using connect player.

there was talk of connect player working 100% on newly formatted machines. I think that theres something on peoples computers that are conflicting with CP. a fresh install would solve this and also explain why some people can get it to work while others cant.

I didn't do clean install, and I removed sonicstage altogether from my pc as well.

Artist link has actually worked for me on several occasions.

does the artist link work via genre? i had a few hundred tracks all with the same genre and still no artist link (iu used CP to transfer them across).

Im not saying for people to format their computers just that theres something on my computer thats not on yours that is messing me around. Ive formatted another computer in the house recently ill throw on CP and see what happens

Hey,

I have just uploaded some mp3 to mi nwa1000 (20 Rolling Stones files with SonicStage 3.3 ).

When I use the Artist Link button I get the message :

"compliant software must be connected to use this function".

So I think that I am forced by Sony to user Connect ???

Yes if you read the first few posts, it has alread been stated that using SonicStage will disable some functions of the NWA1k/3k that need CONNECT to work, for example ArtistLink, Top100, Playback History etc.

It took me 1 hour to transfer 4000 songs to my NW-A3000 using Sonicstage 3.3
