flintstone
Are there any remotes for Sony recorders (MD or Hi-MD) that can power the recorder on and off? The Sharp IM-DR580 (sold as IM-DR80 in Japan) has a remote control that includes buttons to power up the MD, start recording, stop recording, and power off. bogon07
Most of the MD remotes will turn the recorder on or off by pressing the play or stop buttons, the MC35 does.I think the MC40 has some recording functions.
The Low Volta
as bogon said, all remotes can stop the remote after which it powers of automatically and pressing play will power onbut no Sony remote whatsoever has a real recording button but (again ) you can overcome this by setting the recorder in rec/pause and switching 'hold' on... then you can release hold on the remote, press 'play/pause' and presto...you're recordingthe RM-MC40ELK does however show the rec-levels (on a nice big backlit display ) so it is actually your best conpanion for stealth rec in dark situationsPS: beware that ALL LCD-remotes cause audible artifacts when recording! these aren't noticable when recording moderately loud->loud sounds, but forget using the remote for more quiet recordings: crackle and static all the way through
