Question

hello everybody,

for one year i am a enthusiastic user of the two mentionned sony devices. i am very staisfied with both of them.

now soon i will be departing for holidays and wonder if i can get my players scanned together with my hand lugagge at the airport without this will harm the devices or it will do any harm to the data on my harddiscs.

i am shure that some of the members in this interesting forum will have already such "traveling experience" and can make me feel easier to bring my music with me to my holiday.

thanks in advance

greeetings

steve

steve.ch,

Welcome To "AtracLIfe"

Sony doesn`t mentioned about that but i read here FAQ`S oF I-pod

Q: Will airport X-Ray machines harm my iPod?

A: No, there has never been a report of any harm coming to an iPod during security checks. Metal Detectors, X-Ray machines have no effect on them. Airport security staff may request to see the iPod working, as they now do with laptops and other electronic equipment. If you have any concerns about carrying it through security place it into your carry-on luggage which will be X-Rayed. If the security staff wish to do a physical check then be prepared to demonstrate it working.

If still not 100% sure then ask Sony by e-mailing them.

As Apple & Sony both use Toshiba`s Hard Disk in o HDD models (HD5,Hd3,A3000)so no problem during security checks by X-RAYs .

Enjoy Your Trip :)

Edit:Sony use Seagate or Hitachi 6gb Microdrive in A1000

does anyone know if you can get thru a metal detector with a nwa3000 on you?

probably not huh... those american metal detectors are tweaked to pick up a paper clip.

it's a pain to shove my player into my bag every time i come up on a security check because my bag is usually jampacked.

I am sure the security metal detector will pick up the NW-A3000 since it does with my NW-A608.

if the apple will survive, does that mean necesseary that the sony will do so?

i hope so?

i still hope to find somebody who actually really flew with one of his hard-disc devices and can assure that his gadget survived the x-ray check. thanx

Rest assured. Any form of HDD will survive the X-ray security scan. I can assure you that my Sony TR5 sub-notebook and the VAIO Pocket work just fine every time I travel by air. Remember, the iPod employs the same Toshiba 1.8" HDD (already mentioned by Stuge in the preceding posts) as most Sony sub-notebooks - that includes the VAIO Pocket as well.

EVEN WHEN I WAS TAKING((I was listening )) my PLAYER(E505) IN a FAIR .Outside security check picked up my E505 & the security man told me that this gadget is not allowed inside .So i again went back to my car to keep it there.

It is hard to take these players thru metal detector test because these player contains metal parts inside .
