joesoap
I was wondering if my MZ-NH1 will drive extreemly large headphones (Sennheiser HD595's)Will the battery life be reduced drastically as well?
danielbb90
They might...I would stick to the 'MDR' Series of Sony headphones! As stated in the manual!I currently have 3 sets of headphones - one that came with the MZ-NH1 all the MDR series...They all work fine with it without battery difference! but other ones might! AMPlitude
i wouldnt drive those cans with just the internal amp as the phones will sound tinny and not very loud considering how much power they need

tattoou2
thxImpedance on the HD 595 is 120 ohms. You would need a dedicated headphone amplifier to achieve any presence, impact, and soundstage. They are wonderful phones. I have the Senn HD 555 with an impedance of 50 ohms, and my RH910 drives those OK but when I add an external amp, I feel as though I am listening to phones that cost three times the price of the 555's. A small, portable amp is a nice sound upgrade.
Weaves
Over at head-fi they claim there is a 50 ohm version of the HD595. I don't know if it's true or where you could find them, otherwise Peter is correct.
