Should I get the Vaio Pocket?

Hi peeps.

I already own a great NW-HD3 and I have no complains really. Well not really, I wish it has a color screen, I wish it can display album jackets when I play the songs, why cant Sony just for once be nice and let us have a device that will make the iPoddiots jealous! Argh...

Anyway, back to the topic, I recently have been reading about the Vaio pocket and think it's just gorgeous. The new walkman should've been modelled based on this babe. Sigh..

I'm currently in the UK, where do you think I can get it? It's not selling off the shops anymore is it? Is ebay the only choice? I'm very nervous about getting it off ebay because I don't wanna experience all those crashing and stuff...I have 1 MD player, 1 NWHD3, and they have been great. What is the current price like?

I saw one in Dixons (Holborn,London) just before christmas, for £200. Same place as I bought mine last year. I could have checked there today if I'd seen this post earlier. Not sure where else may have them in ther UK, maybe some Sony centres.

It is really nice to be able to display album covers, and the screen is very nice though ultimately I'm not sure if I'd really miss this facility. I usually take my HD5 out and about with me instead, and use the pocket plugged into the stereo at home, through its great line out.

PSP doesn`t have 40gb internal space & Also Vaio Pocket is quite different from PSP

Having spent some time reading peoples experiences with this player on CV im in two minds. your HD3 will wipe the floor with the VP for sure in terms of battery life for a start, its also quite a bit bigger than your current Walkman. go for a PSP I say.

And for me the size, sound & battery life of the NW-HD range is enough to make schmipod owners feel cheated.

To help with your question about if buying one is right for you. Perhaps it is best that you state what you are looking for, no?

PS - I wish we could play video on it...though I have heard it can be done...just haven't found out the way....yet!

I wouldn't get the Vaio pocket now, unless you MUST have gapless AND color display/album art. It's just

"too old," and there are/will be many new MP3 DAPs coming out after CES. The vaio pocket, although a good piece of hardware, it is big and its battery will always drain out, even if you turn it "off." A good unit for home use (thanks to its line out on the cradle), but not really practical for actual portable use. Not to bash the Vaio pocket, but with 5g iPod, I don't think iPod owners will be "jealous," noting that the Vaio pocket will ran out of battery first when both are "off!"

If you still want it, I would keep the HD3 as the portable unit, while the Vaio pocket to be used as a home "jukebox."

Yeah, the home jukebox idea sounds brilliant. But i'm not willing to spend more than £100 on it. Kinda looking at ebay now.
