Syrius
XBox had that idea too, but left it to the developers, who region-locked most games. In fact, 99% were locked. Most portable consoles have always been region free. Sony must have seen that it actually benefited them after releasing the PSP.If there's no need to hack or mod the system in order to play legal import software, by extension it also prevents and discourages the use of such mods to play bootleg software. Kinda like when there's no point in spending 5 or 6 dollars to rent a movie, rip it, and burn it when you can buy it for 12 or 15.
pata2001
Hopefully this works for PS and PS2 games also. No more waiting for crappy dubbed/localized US version.
Syrius
Erm.. Xenosaga had excellent voice acting and localization. Same with FFX and FFX2.. of course, if the game is not text-intensive, bring on the japanese games.
