Dko
K, so here is the problem.Ive been trying to record onto the Player using Sonic Stage 3.4 via the HI-MD mode and ive change the bit rates and no matter what setting i put it on the sound quality comes out the same "popping and skipping" i am trying to record Mp3s that i have downloaded from the net onto the MD player, and I am using a normal MD disc 80 and i am recording in HI-MD "SP" mode, I have tried importing a CD and uploading it into the MD player and it works fine there are no pops, I have tried to record at every bit rate mode in Atrac3 to Atrac3 plus, in NetMD mode, in the convert format menu "for my Mp3s" but in the recording I can still hear the pops "oh god please help me, I think Ive bought a dud!" chico75pi
You say you only have problem with mp3s...which bitrate do they have? With poor bitrate you may experience pops and clicks...
Dko
OK,OK,OK Its alright I think I have located the problem. As I was Having problems with Popping in the recording, I decided to install Sonic Stage into my friends computer and whatdaya know it works perfectly. I think because he is using an external soundcard (CREATIVE Sound Blaster 5.1 PCI) it does some kindof a thing to make it betterererer. Unlike poor old me who is using good old Mongaloid Onboard sound, was troubleshooting for half a day thinking why the F*$#K does it make a "Popping" sound in my recording? God Damn you to hell Sony You sold me a god damn F*$#king Dud! Anyway this may be the solution or not (my onboard sound Is gay) I shall investigate further and if anyone has had as much trouble and frustration as I did, May god have mercy on your soul. eriktous
Your soundcard has nothing to do with it. It isn't used at all during downloading to your Hi-MD. (You could even download music to your MD without any soundcard installed in your computer.)It sounds like you have a problem with Sonic Stage. Either it isn't installed properly or it doesn't play nice with the mp3 codecs that are on your PC. Post your problem and your system specs in the software subforum and someone might be able to help you fix it. Anakondarh
K let me get this straight... you use the terms "recording" and "uploading". You have to realize that theyre not the same thing. When youre uploading, everything is digital so Soundcard or not, there wont be a difference. If you are "recording" I assume you are connecting a line into your computer and playing the music on yure PC (using sonicstage or other audio player) while live recording on the player? because then the sound card WILL make a difference, better SC = better sound quality. Just a thought.

Close all other programs and then run SonicStage again, it can be very needy of resources.
Qwakrz
If memory serves me right, there was a prolem with SS and MP3 conversion a while ago. One of the downloadable codecs does not play well with SS and causes pops and clicks on MP3 tracks when converted in SS.2 ways around this.1) Convert your MP3's to WAV and then import the WAV files into SS2) Remove all MP3 codec plugins except the Farenhof (spelling?) basic one that comes with windows and then re-install SS to put its own codec in. I even think that the downloadable SS 3.4 from the downloads section removes the known buggy codec in the options for installing. I know the 3.3 version did.Sorry I cant be of more help but the only MP3 codec I use is LAME and that plays nicely with SS so far.
