Deinel
Hey there guys. Im from Singapore and currently using the RH910 and SS3.4(online installer) that was downloaded here.I had used the search engine and had found very similar posts to my problem - unable to upload songs with Chinese filenames or Chinese tags. But till now, even after reading all relevant posts im still unsuccessful in rectifying the problem. Before following the instructions given here, it was impossible to upload songs into SS. After installing and running AppLocale, changing the regedit thing and setting my language to Chinese(PRC) in the Advanced setting in the Region' n Lang' options(or should i change the lang under the Regional options rather than Advanced option?), SS can upload the song yet the album name shows blanks and song title shows ??? It wouldnt play as well. Can anyone enlighten me in my situation and show me the solution to my problem?
Richard
When you are running SS through AppLocale are you running it as Chinese or Japanese?
Deinel
You mean choosing the language in AppLocale? I chose Chinese(PRC)
Richard
You mean choosing the language in AppLocale? I chose Chinese(PRC) You don't need to worry about changing the language in the advanced tab of the regional options control panel applet this is only for setting the default language for non-unicode programs. It's the middle tab (languages) in which you need to make sure you have support for Install Files for East Asian Languages ticked. Also did you follow the instructions in this thread to the letter?Having done this can you try manually titling one of the tracks in Sonic Stage to see if that works. pata2001
Don't forget to change the registry region setting. Sony put a region code in the registry for HiMD and Network walkmans. US code will result in ???, even if you use applocale for sonicstage. I tell you, Sony USA sees Kanji as the root of all evil.
Deinel
richyhu - Thanks, but i went to the middle tab and saw that it is already ticked, though the tick-box cant be altered (greyed).pata2001 - What do you mean by the registry region setting? Is is the area code in the regedit? In there, i did set it to 80000.Thanks alot to you guys, i really appreciate the trouble that you took to reply to my plea. But im still stuck in the situation. Sorry to annoy you.
Richard
Ok sounds like everything is ok. After running SS with AppLocale. See if you can import the CD and let Gracenote get the info from the internet - do these track titles display ok. I know some people have had issues with MP3's that were titled in another app. If you can import a cd successfully and get the Chinese info from the internet automatically then it could be an issue with the tags (if they are MP3's you are trying to import). Ishiyoshi
What do you mean by the registry region setting? Is is the area code in the regedit? In there, i did set it to 80000.Perhaps a typo at your end. Just for your reference, the "AreaCode" value for Traditional/Simplified Chinese, is 800000. Deinel
Is there anyway where i can make my unit display chinese?
Richard
Is there anyway where i can make my unit display chinese? Where did you buy your unit from? You could try changing the destination code in the firmware via the service mode so that it is set to the Hong Kong / Tourist area. Although I'm not sure if the lcd displays on those units can actually display Kanji type characters. The one on my NH900 for example only displays katakana. I thought only the RH10 and DH10P could do this on the units themselves. If you have a kanji-capable remote like the RM-MC35ELK or RM-MC40ELK you will have no issue viewing the track titles you transferred in Chinese and you won't even need to change the firmware settings (I think). Deinel
Haha, i bought my unit in Singapore. What do you mean by firmware and how do i locate the destination code and the service mode? By configuring the system itself?I currently have the controller from my previous D-NE900 which i can use but im not using any remote with my RH910...I did try tho and it still wont display chinese. pata2001
RH910 cannot display kanji on its LCD. Period. You still can use any ELK remote (35ELK, 40ELK) to display kanji, but those remotes are designed with Japanese in mind, so not all kanji will be displayed, only those that have the same kanji in Japanese.DH10P, on the other hand, can display Japanese and Chinese perfectly on its LCD. Dunno about the RH10, but I think it could also.
Deinel
Sigh..then guess i gotta change the tags of my chinese songs to hanyu pinyin, english pronunciation of chinese. My remote is the RM-MC33EL, not the ones you mentioned.Anyway, once again..thanks alot guys for the great help you've given. I love this forum and i love Hi-MD :)Guess its case closed for this thread
