Question

hehe im new, yay for me

i went to my local sony centre to get one of these players

they looked really nice and 6b is a big up from my older creative player of 256mb, lol

anyway, about 4 days had apssed of using it, and i noticed dust around teh edges of the buttons and undetneath the front screen over the actual screen, and there was a small mm gap between the back and middle section of the player

i would get some pcitures but the digital camera wire has been missing for months

anyway, so being the big wuss i am with taking things back i amde a reletive do it (hehe) and then i got my new one on thursday

all was going well until i noticed this morning that the same thing had happend

i have dust under the plastic and above the screen aswell around the buttons

now considering i dont do anything vigorous in my life, il use it wile wlaking the dog or walking back from college

but i dont see how it can get so dusty

now i was wondering if there wasa way to remove the dust, so then if it happens again i could do it, or possibly if there s a way to take the thing apart

i dont want to return it, i really like it, but i wont be able to live with this, im a bit picky about things and ifi ask my relative to take it back again i can bet u they woudlnt bring a new one back

It would be well worth investing in some sort of case/cover/protection for your player. I think the soft silicon case would probably be the best as it covers up all around the side and most of the top and bottom reducing the amount of crack space dust can enter through.

I use a black soft lycra-ish carry bag and that does the job too because the player isn't rubbing against the inside of my pocket and collecting lint. worst case scenario just wrap it in gladwrap that'll keep dust and any scratches away

if you are keen on attempting to take your player apart there are instructions on how to in the pdf manual included on the CONNECT Player CD.

well i looked at the pdf that came with the disk, and my word, that thing on the back, would it come off, no, i mean, its like its being held by a bunch of really small people holding on for there lives, anyway

since i cant take it apart ive given up on that idea, lol

so i shal be making a relative take this one back and getting a new one, thats if they dont get sick of seeing her

what i shal do differntly this time, i shal make sure they ask to see if they have any silicon cases, i have looked online for them and they look nice and would keep the dust away from the buttons (which to my best guess is how the dust is getting in there) if they dont ahve any, i shal not be touching it till i get one online and it comes

im really disapointed as to how this has worked out, its a shame really, everything else ive bought from sony has worked perfectly fine (ps2, t610, k700i)

and worst of all, im gonna have to spend a few hours putting music back on that thing through connect :D

i did try to unscrew the circle bit on the back, but it woudlnt budge, not a bit, so i agve up after that

i couldnt get my relative to take it back, so im just going to be a man about it, though i might moan alot, and just use it anyway

i did get the silicon case for it, like a second skin, there were lots of rude jokes in the sony centre, but i wont go into that

so the only thing i want to know now is if theres a way to remove dust a differnt way, like possibly sticking a hover over the buttons? possibly get rid of the dust round them and clean it up a bit, but im not sure how it owuld tunr out

unless anyones got any other ideas
