Does anyone know (and tried) how to enter service mode for MZ-EH1? I searched on the forum but couldn't find any info.

I bought a MZ-EH1 recently from Japan and it (or more accurately, the RM-MC40ELK remote) only display english or Japanese menus, I want to enable Simplified Chinese menu but don't know how. I assume you can do it by entering the service mode (like other Hi-MD units) and change the destination code, but neither the methods in FAQ area works for EH1.

Help is appreciated!

As far as I am aware the EH1 can only display Japanese and English menus as it was a Japan only model. It was never meant for sale in China. The only Hi-MD unit that can display Chinese on the unit is the DH10P.

If on the other hand you just want the tracks titles in Chinese this is purely software dependent:

Hi Richyhu, thanks for your reply! I understand that EH1 wasn't intend to sell in China, but I hoped that there are some tricks for people that want Chinese menus.

I read the tricks referenced in your post, but it was for display inside SS software only, not for the unit/remote. To enable Chinese titles/menus on my RH10 unit, I had to enter service mode and modify the destination code. After that, I had my RH10 working properly with Chinese titles/menus displayed on the unit.

While we are at it, I think I have three questions (assume using the same disc that has Chinese titles and works properly on RH10 unit):

1. How to show Simplified Chinese menus on RM-MC40ELK when working with RH10? My RH10 works great on Chinese menus, but when I hook it up with MC40ELK, the menu automatically became English, although the unit still shows Chinese menus.

2. How to show Simplified Chinese titles on RM-MC40ELK when working with RH10? My RH10 works great on Chinese titles, but when I hook it up with MC40ELK, the titles becomes "...."(one dot for each Chinese character), although the unit still shows Chinese titles.

3. If either of the above works, how can I make it work when use working with EH1?

Thanks!

The 40ELK can only display Japanese. 1 way is to use the Japanese destination code in the windows registry for Sonicstage. This way, Sonicstage will format the title as Japanese, even though they're chinese. The catch is, not all characters would be displayed, since not all chinese kanji characters are available in Japanese kanji set.
