Can't import with CONNECT

Every time I try to import something from CP it f***s up and tells me that TinyHTTP.exe has to be shut down, would you like to submit an error report. When I submit the error report I get another error about the "Reference memory could not be read" or something.

This is highly unusual because imports used to work fine.

The only changes since then have been

1. I imported all my songs into the CP library and now there are 1138 songs. I used to only have a few hundred at any one time

2. I tried to use GYM with CP and import all the crack*.mp3's, which made CONNECT crash.

Does anyone know how to completely remove all traces of CP and start again? Everytime I uninstall it and reinstall it it feels like something has been left behind because my library will still be intact and all the settings the same.

I took one look at SS3.3 and I really don't want to use it. It's just too finnicky compared to CP (when it works). I don't mind the fact that it's a bit slower.

Best thing I can suggest is to uninstall connect and browse via explorer to:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sony Corporation\CONNECT Player

And then delete the folder. Re-install and see if the library is empty.

And make sure the sync setting is manual until you add everything back library. Otherwise it will delete everything on your NW-A...And that's not very good.

just do what rocket said.

I've had the library corrupt in CP on me quite a few times, 3 now tha I count, and all I do is delete the stuff in the librar folders, and then reboot.

Then I open up CP and start re-importing stuff, it is a chore but it works everyitme.

As for GYM, I gave up on it since it didn't work for me, really no point in using it. Don't use SS with the new units, I don't recommend it.

Yeah but I don't like SS very much at all. CP is really much simpler. More d&d (drag and drop).

Another strange problem has cropped up which I mentioned in another thread, that is CP will now crash every time the player is Connected and the Reading Data of the player reaches 100%.

Is this also due to a corrupt library, or what?

The device library may be corrupt if you removed a bunch of stuff, reinstalled, etc. You should make sure you've really cleaned the device out of the system, too. To do that, make sure the Connect player is not running, your device isn't attached to the PC, and do one of the following things:

== Fix 1: Format the device ==

It isn't always fun, but sometimes your new Walkman gets into a funk, and no software in the world can fix it. If you keep seeing the "100%" or "97%" reading message in Connect player and can't ever get beyond it, formatting the device (called "Initializing" in the preferences menu) will fix it. This does remove all the content from your device, but you have it all on your PC to put back on, right?

1. Disconnect the device from the PC

2. Go to Preferences

3. Go to Initialize

4. Answer yes

== Fix 2: Remove the device from the Connect Library ==

*** Warning - The following steps could seriously mess up your PC if you don't know what you are doing. The author takes no responsibility for what happens when you follow these directions ***

1. Run regedit

2. Find the following key: HKEY CUUURENT USER\Software\Sony Corporation\CONNECT Player\PDAppLogic\Profiles\

3. Pick any keys found below (but inside of) the one listed above. Delete them.

4. Close regedit

5. Run Connect player

6. Attach your device

After doing either of these steps, your device should show up again, and you should make it past 100%. Hopefully this gets you up and going. I've had to do both, and it just depends on what is busted to figure out which one to try.

The player is fine, TinyHTTP.exe crashes once Reading Data reaches 100% and it asks me if I want to send an Error Report etc.

Then it will say something about the memory referenced not being able to be read.

Oh yeah, I initialised my player but now the sample songs are gone... Is there anyway to get them back? The "Feelin' Hypnotized" by Colette that came with the player is a different version to the one on her CD and I'd love to have both because she is teh 1 amazing singer.
