Vincent_Vega
Hi all!I have installed SonicStage 4. This wunderfol software hangs while getting CD-Infos from the web. But I can't stop SS from getting the Infos. When I start SS it works for the first say 5sek and then it hangs. I have it on my laptop aswell and here I don't have a problem. It connected to the net and got all the CD-Infos. It is hard to believe, that it has anything to do with a) the CD-Info part and anti-virus program (as it works on my laptop...). I have a XP2600+, 1GB RAM, IDE-HD, NVidia graphics (FX5900). Running apps: WIN XP SP2, F-Secure 2006, iTunes. Really not much. In this forum I read about using old NVIDIA drivers. But they all seemed to have different problems.Does anyone have a clue, how I can make SS to work? Many thanx in advance...PS: Is there still only SS for transfering music from PC to MD? Really and truly, this software is one of the worst written software titles I have ever seen. I just can't get it, why SONY are simply not able to get a good, solid Software to work. This way, they will never be able to atract MD to new people. MD could be so much better, if...

Sparky191
I suspect its your firewall blocking it. I can have problems through the firewall at work. I reckon it just times out. Mind you other tagging software seems to be slow through the same firewall so I can't blame SS. At home SS works perfectly. To be honest I've never really had a problem with it. Experiment with your firewall. Turn it off for a minute and see if SS works ok. Don't forget to turn it back on through. Then find out how to reconfigure your AV/Firewall software. I don't really have a problem using SS. Its not exactly a complex application, but agreed it has, and has had way too many bugs for such a simple app. I can only assume there are little or no resources assigned to it. Pity. But it gets the job done.
atrain
have you set up cddb in the tools?
Vincent_Vega
Thankx for the posts.I have tried to run SS with the Firewall turned off and cddb should be set up correctly. However, I can't change it now, as it hangs shortly after I start SS.
Sparky191
I thought the default for the CDDB in SS was to use your browser settings. I assume that they would be ok.
atrain
try running this patchhttp://www.gracenote.com/developer/update/
Vincent_Vega
Thank you very much for your posts. I've reinstalled the software, applied the cddb patch, but still unchanged. I very much appreciate your help... I don't think, that is has anything todo with the cddb and getting the CD Info.I keep on trying and searching...I believe, that SS has some (many??) problems with certain other software titles, codecs, ID3 (at least I read about this here in the forum). I haven't found an incompalibility list yet. Maybe it doesn't like other mp3 software? Does anybody know, if such a list exists? This would make problem solving -not only for me- a little easier. I have Mediaplayer 10, JetAudio 6, iTunes 6, divx, Realplayer, tunebite, MediaConnect and Napster installed. Could it be, that these programms interfere with SS? As I don't won't to (un)-install unneccessarily, maybe somebody knows, if there is a problem with one of these titles.
atrain
could be, why so many jukebox softwares?also have you tried the MDAC repair from the downloads section?
Sparky191
I've never heard of an application conflicting with it. Did you try your firewall?
Vincent_Vega
I disabled the firewall, I tried the patch and I have uninstalled all other mp3 software apart from MediaPlayer and SS of course. As mentioned above, I tried an older Nvidia driver. I have reinstalled SS (with AV und FW turned off). Upto now, no changes whatsoever. The good thing is, that it hangs virtually at the same point every time I start the software. So there must be some type of conflict. Does SS has a logfile anywhere?? Vincent_Vega
Funny thing: I have uninstalled SS4 und installed SS 3.4. This works perfectly. So it must be something with SS4 that doesn't like me system.

Vincent_Vega
Ok, I have found a solution. I have uninstalled SS4 und installed 3.4 which was working without any problems. As SS4 had some kind of problem with the CD-Info I deleted the database, uninstalled SS3.4 and installed SS4 again. However, SS4 is at last working. Is it only me having this problem??Anyways, all is fine now.SONY: PLEASE improve SonicStage or ar least open MD for other software, which is much cheaper to realise.THANX to all of you trying to help!!
