wpluta
Hi all,My Sony MZ-N707 doesn't work anymore: When I insert a disc and close the unit, it starts reading the TOC, which lastrs a while. It gets to read the TOC - like the name of the disc, the number of tracks on the MD and so on. But after reading the TOC the tracks on the MD can not be played. When holding the unit in hands, I can feel and hear that the MD is turning and something is working. But nothing else happens. Sometimes I can navigate with the FFWD or RWD buttons from one track to another, too. But when pushing the PLAY button nothing happens.I had an old CD player which seemed to suffer from the same problem. A while it worked after cleaning the lense of the laser with abn Q-tip dipped in alcohol. I tried this with the MZ-N707 - yet without success. Is there any fix for this problem? Or is the laser damaged and has to be removed? If the later: Shall I have my MZ-N707 repaired or rahter buy a new device?Regards from Hamburg, Germany,wp

bobt
You can try removing the battery for a few minutes, and cleaning the laser with a Q-Tip, but more than likely your unit has toasted. For what it would cost to repair it you could get an entry level Hi-MD unit that will surpass anything the 707 would do. Mine is a nice paperweight right now due to most of what you'res is doing, next it will randomly erase discs, don't keep trying, or you will lose them.Good luck,BobBTW, welcome to the forum
