aetmos
Hi All,I just received a MZ-NHF800 that I purchased on Ebay, and it won't open ;-(. The person I bought it from won't take it back, so now I'm screwed, I guess. Does anybody know how to get it to open? I've gotten into the service mode, but I can't seem to find anything that would be helpful.By the way, I would not recommend purchasing from:Robin MercadoNorco, CA 92860 United StatesUsername: pramitThanks,Tom Edited September 3, 2006 by Ishiyoshi
KrazyIvan
Usually when a unit is recording the door locks, if the unit loses power while recording, your situation can happen. I am assumming there is a disc inside. Try getting out of service mode and putting it in record mode then press stop. Hopefully, that will unlock the door. aetmos
No, there's no disc inside. I know that for sure, because I removed the screws, and peered into the inside a little bit. I couldn't figure out how to spring the latch or anything like that, but I definitely could see that there wasn't a disc in there. No amount of pressing record/play/stop seems to do anything.Any other ideas? Thanks,Tom
A440
Have you tried removing the battery and then re-inserting it, if there's a battery in there? And/or putting in a battery and pressing play (to see if you get "No Disc")?
aetmos
Yes, I've tried removing/inserting the battery. Pressing play does say 'no disc'.
jaylen
Did you purchase this unit new or used from this seller? If you bought it used, then yeah, you're screwed. If you bought it new, then they should have a 1-year warranty where if there are any problems, you send it to them and they get it repaired for you. A friend of mine bought a new NH700 from one of their 3 related companies, not pramit though.
atrain
contact ebay, you should be entitled to a refunf through ebay's buyer protection program.i wouldn't mention i'd dis-assembled it though. contact them asap, if you paid through paypal they also have a similar parralel program. sector001
how did the person on ebay list the condition of the unit? USED or what?
jaylen
The reason I asked if you bought it used or new is because if you bought it used, you may have trouble getting your money back from eBay or PayPal. I remember seeing their auctions for used items and it states that they didn't test its functions or they don't know if it works because it is old, old stock (or something like that), so sales are "as is." That's why their used units sell for about 1/4 the price of their new-in-box ones. It's cheap, but comes with great risk and without accessories. That seller has a lot of old, used stock of the same/similar unit. Have you tried calling them and negotiating a trade-in? I've noticed that they do like direct contact instead of eBay messaging. (If you don't have their number, PM me and I'll see what I can do.)Good luck.
