aetmos
Hi All,I just purchased a used MZ-NH900, and while almost everything seems to be working okay, I'm having some trouble recording from the microphone input. When I use a self-powered electret microphone, everything works fine, but if I turn the microphone's power off, or use a non-self-powered electret microphone, I don't get anything. This MD recorder should be providing phantom power to the mic, so I don't understand what's wrong. Is there some way to turn off the phantom power, or is something broken? Thanks,Tomoh, nevermind. I'm an idiot. The one mic appears to be hosed, while the other one didn't even have a battery in it, so the switch apparently cuts off the signal as well as the self-power.Sorry... bobt
Glad you got it resolved, I've never had a problem with non-powered, or powered mics on my NH-1, sometimes you have to expe4iment a bit.Happy recordingBob

greenmachine
There's the so-called "plug in power", which is somewhere in the 1.5-10V range and phantom power for large non-pre-polarized condenser mics, usually somewhere in the 12-48V range. MD walkmen are built to use with pre-polarized [electret] mics and thus use the first of these two variants.
