Joy
I've ordered one, can't wait to get it. However, one source brought up some questions I'd like answered if possible.Does the RHI provide 48V phantom power?Does the RHI need to compress or in any way alter the recorded PCM sound before it downloads to the pc hard disc? Can you name recorded files on the fly? Will the RHI work with a mic pre amp?Does the mic input provide automatic gain, or if it does, can it be avoided? Is the maximum recording quality 16 bit/44.1kHz?For the type of field recording that is required, the current recommendation is something like a laptop and an Apogee Minime. Way beyond my current price range.
heathenmagic
Hiya, It works with a mic preamp, and transferring to PC converts PCM into WAV through Sonicstage.I have found sound quality for my recordings superb, but it all depends on your mic and setup to get the optimum output. Roamer
- Phantom Power : No. You need an external power supply for this type of mics.- No compression if you use PCM.- The recording will be time-stamped. You can rename after the recording is done.- You can use an external pre-amp if you want.- You can choose automatic or manual gain.- And maximum quality is 16 bits/44.1kHz (PCM)
Sparda
pcm and wav is the same thing. so if you recorded in pcm no it wouldn't be compressed or altered if you uploaded it.
