Nisha
Hi, I have a Minidisc recorder (MZ-NH900) and I really need some help. I'm not sure what information is required but here's what happened: On one of my tracks (goes for about an hour and a half in total) it plays perfectly for 12 seconds then it's silent with some jumping sounds for the rest of the track. I have no idea what happened, my sister said she pressed the stop button while this track was playing and it said 'system file transfer' and that could have been after 12 seconds, but this could have nothing to do with the problem. I listened to the whole hour and a half about twice without any problems, now I can only hear the first 12 seconds. All the other tracks work fine.Could the disc be damaged or something? Is there anything I can try to fix it? This is my first recording but the recorder is borrowed so it's probably been used a lot. I would really appreciate any replies as this file was really important. Thanks for any help. Edited October 16, 2006 by Nisha
Skradgee
Try to play that disc in another Hi-MD unit if you can get access to another model somehow. Otherwise, you might be out of luck. However, I can tell you that out of the three Hi-MD units I own, the RH10 is the best at playing damaged discs and corrupted recordings. It doesn't work in every case, but I definitely have some recordings that at least "partially" play back on the RH10 vs. "not at all" on other models. The RH1 might be able to perform just as well, but I can't say for sure. ATELETRONICS
open th shutter door and very carefully try to clean the disk surface after you try to see if it is dirty.
smkranz
Have you tried uploading the recording to your computer with Sonic Stage? Since you are borrowing the recorder I'm guessing you don't have the software CD. Download Sonic Stage from here to see if you can upload the recording to your desktop PC (if you use a MAC you are out of luck with the MZ-NH900). You'll also need the Minidisc -> USB transfer cable.Chances are, if the file is corrupt or if the disc is damaged, it won't upload completely (or at all). But it's worth a shot.
