Bassdaddy
Hello fellow MD users. I used to have a Sharp portable MD recorder. In the menu it had ALL ERASE, SONG ERASE, SONG MOVE, DIVIDE & COMBINE. It was great but it's now gone to MD heaven after suffering one final fall.So I'm looking at a Sony to replace it but I can't see that it has a "DIVIDE" function. Only a "T MARK". Is this the same? i.e. if I record one 6 minute track which should be two seperate songs, can I go to the end of the 1st song, hit T MARK and this will divide the track into 2 songs? Please help.ThanksBassdaddy
greenmachine
The T MARK / REC button usually incorporates both the divide and combine function depending on when you press it (not sure if it works for digitally recorded / downloaded tracks). Details are in the manual. Which model are you aiming for?
Bassdaddy
MZ-NH600 Hi-MD but I borrowed a MZR55 which also has this T MARK function. I was looking for something that I can edit with as I play in a band and often record our gigs. As I record from the start of a set it all gets recorded as one long track but then I divide the songs up later. If this T MARK function can do that then I'm happy. greenmachine
The NH600 (and all other Hi-MD with realtime recording abilities) can do that. When pressing the T MARK button during recording or playback, a new track will be created / divided. When making a purchase, make sure to actually get the NH600, not the downloader model NH600D (easily to be confused, doesn't offer realtime recording, no analog input jacks). If you need a built-in mic preamp, get its sibling, the NH700 instead.
reefbeef
Also consider the latest greatest RH1, which will allow u to digitally upload the recordings made by your Sharp.
