Pilaar39
Good day, all.. my first post after discovering this forum.. hopefully someone can help me out.The situation is that I have two players: NW-HD1 and NW-E407. Both were working fine, loaded up with music in ATRAC3+ format, and both sync'd with SonicStage 3.2.Then I decided to upgrade my PC, and installed a new HD. I reinstalled SS 3.2, and tried to connect one of my players. It recognized it ok, and even displayed all the tracks on it. However, I wanted to recreate my library on the PC, and tried to transfer the music back from the player to the PC. It would not let me do it, saying that the tracks on the player were transferred to it from another computer. Now I notice that there are a lot of newer versions of SS out there, and I was wondering if I upgraded to one of them, if I would be able to transfer my music back from the player to my PC with one of them, and if so, which version should I use?Or, do I just delete all the stuff on the players and start over from scratch? ( I do have all my original music in MP3 format, but transferring it all back would be one major task, since the conversion to ATRAC is so time consuming!)Oh, one other thing.. since I still have the old HD I removed from the PC, and since it still had all the OMG/OMA files in the sonicstage track directories, I even tired copying them over to the new HD, but alas, SonicStage would not recognize them.Any advice?pl
Pilaar39
Hmmm. the silence is deafening. So, as I said, v3.2 would not work..ie, I could not resync my player with the PC. So, I got and installed the latest version, 4.3, and guess what? Sony did it again! v4.3 would not work at all with my player.. said it needed to reformat it for the new version.. so, I lost all my tracks on the player. Bunch of idiots! Last time I ever buy ANYTHING with a Sony name! btw.. this is not the first time I have upgraded SonicStage and it required me to reformat my player. Bunch of idiots!Fortunately, I have all my music and audiobooks backed up as MP3 files on an external drive. Unfortunately, I now need to waste a lot of time converting them to ATRAC3 format and transferring them to the player.. again. (Yes, I know I can use MP3 format, but ATRAC3 is much more space efficient.)pl
Richard
It sounds like you had some DRM on the Atrac tracks in your library - as this is strictly a non-minidisc related inquiry may I suggest you check out our sister forum dedicated to all things Atrac (including upgrading SS for use with Sony HDD / Flash DAP's) AtracLife* Thread closed
