MZRH1 cut out during playback

I recently bought the Sony MZRH1 from amazon and i'ts the best move i've ever made, however theres one issue i'm slightly concerned about. When the MD player has been lying flat and played through my amp it has stopped playing half way through a track and you can hear the disc inside spinning and hesitating to start up again. I have to eject the disc and play it again. This has happened only twice and otherwise works flawlessly. The player is brand new and i have not dropped it. Is it normal for an MD player to occasionally play intermittently when at rest, or is this a real problem? Thanks

I had a similar problem when playing Hi-MD formatted MD discs on my brand new RH1 (the day after I bought it). But I actually had READ ERRORs (and loud beeps). Turned out to be an overpowered laser. But I am not sure what may cause this for 1 Gb Hi-MDs, since your unit does not display any error messages.

Every RH1 has its own different quirks, my has to do with charging issues and minor displaying glitches. If it is a big concern for you and happens quite often, then get a technician to look at it. And before you do that try re-transferring them onto a different md disc.

How did you find that out?

ANYTHING can be changed in service mode. And I am 99% sure that it is possible to enable such things as trackname display, search menu, and equalizer settings on the main unit for the RH1. But only SONY knows which addresses need to be changed, and how. Service manuals are totally incomplete from this point of view. And there is nothing to compare the RH1 with.

You don't have to program any sets of instructions - everything is most probably already programmed. The display is capable of showing anything - menus, startup animation, and those fancy spectrum analyzers. So it can easily show text info, if input the required data. And the processor has this information (it is not more stupid than that of the RH10). And as for menu items being disabled through service mode - we've already seen that on older models.

If it's possible to change this particular display setting, I suppose that somebody from this forum will do it, or will acquire knowledge how was it done sooner or later. It's the biggest gathering of MD freaks in the whole internet right? :D But I would not consider it easy. Or maybe it's not possible at all... When I think about the past moves of this producer, I come to thought, that yes, it could be not possible at all.

Of course, it may be impossible. But still I am 99% sure that it is possible. Who would beleive a month ago that the RH10 is capable of recording in true SP? Yet a single address adjutment - and it does this, though in a slightly limited way.

As I have just bought the RH1, if anybody will turn this feature on, and describe the way to do it on the forum, I will greet him with a true polish beer, no matter where I'll have to post it ;)
