Aaron T.
Hello all, a very informative space here. Just picked up the MZ M200, and am overall very pleased with as I record new audio. My problem though is what to do with the audio interviews archived on a pre HI-MD machine from CD. I am editing a compilation of my previous interviews, one in particular which I copied from a damaged CD onto MD for archiving. To my chagrin, when I popped the MD with this interview into the MZ M200, it played (good), showed up in Sonic Stage (good), but it wouldn't allow me to transfer the file to the library because it was previously recorded from a CD or MD. (Sony's Copyright protection? Fine except when you're the copyright holder and can't properly copy your own work). Is my only choice to re-record the file in real time from the output of the MZ M200 into my computer to re-create a first generation audio file? Is there a workaround? Thanks in advance for any help,T.

Thanks in advance for any help,T.The Pre Hi MD format , Discs that you have , use your previous MD and record to the 200 with a 1/8 stereo cable ( analouge) instead of digital transfer ( Time consuming I know ) but record it on the 200 in HiMD format , then transfer it to the computer , no probs then.glad your here TCWhen you make a Optical transfer from a CD , the CD's Copyright gets copied along with the Audio Edited March 17, 2007 by Guitarfxr

Sadly, Sony built SCMS detection into SonicStage, which can hamper things like this.
raintheory
Unfortunately, the RH1 wont allow uploads from legacy discs made with OpenMG/SonicStage.However...If you have access to a Deck with TOC Cloning capabilities, you can simply clone a TOC from a disc recorded via Mic/Line-In (same format as your disc, but recorded for the total amount of time your disc is), then you will have no problems uploading the material. You will however need to go back and add trackmarks to the disc after doing this, if need be.TOC Cloning Info: http://www.minidisc.org/cloning_procedure.html Edited March 17, 2007 by raintheory
