mze90
i used to have a hi-md model which there was usb and sonic stage to encode mp3 into the disc. i recently purchased a 1999 model md one, it's just a single player, can't record or anything, and no usb. I wonder how can I load mp3s (i mean encode them into atrac) onto a md minidisc, the player doesn't support hi-md. Thanks

Thanks You will have to record from the computer to the HI MD from the line out of the computer, Set the Disc mode on the HI MD , to regular MD and record at normal SP mode ( unless the player can do LP ) TC

Well, if it cannot record, then you're screwed. Hunt for a cheap NH600D/DH710 online or ebay.

Hunt for a cheap NH600D/DH710 online or ebay.Hi thanks for replying. So back then in 1999 how do people load musics onto the minidisc? or were the albums on sale in minidisc media back then? thanksThe model i purchased is mz-e90. bought it for its slim design, wo/ knowing there is such things as md, hi-md, recordable, etc. I really like this mz-e90. Is there a model out there that is recording only? I mean all I need is to encode my mp3s onto the disc, if i bought a nh600 that has both playback and recording, I wouldn't need this mz-e90 at all, I don't think. thanks. greenmachine
They recorded in realtime. But you obviously need a recorder model for this. There were also some prerecorded albums, but the market was largely dominated by CDs (at least outside of Japan). NetMD had USB connectivity, but were downloaders only. Most of today's units, including Hi-MD allow transfers in both directions, but only some of them can record in realtime, which is invaluable for live recording. To my knowledge, there are no recording models only, playback ability is standard. Why not just get a mp3 player? Edited March 19, 2007 by greenmachine
