Phantom power vs bias power

I am trying to learnthis stuff as quickly as I can but have stumbled across some info on a board which states that phantom power can be handled through the three wire XLR type connectors. For the unbalanced two wire, as I have, the remote or bias power of a 9 volt is what I need. Is this right? :scratchhead:

GF - Bruce Bartlett would know, for sure. I have one of his books. His other book is ~US$150 and I am not rushing out to buy it. Thanks for the info. ;o)

I had a good freind named Don Nance , he is a guitar amp builder ( ALL tubes baby) but he built also one of the nicest Mic preamps( tube of course) A little expensive but that thing sounded good , real good

I wish he was on this board but he became a hermit , and has basically no contact with the outer world , he lives on a mountain in North Carolina now .

But he would make some serious money here
