Silly question...

Hi, this is a silly question, but I love to know which things are happening in a precise moment. So I would like to know if the little red light that blinks when starting or recording, could be turned to blink every time the unit reads data (and not just at the beginning or when connected to the PC) :)

Yeh, I know, it's a silly question, but I tried...

BTW, is there any firmware update on these unit? Since the info of the firmware can be seen through the menus, I always wonder if there will be any updates

Perhaps through service mode. I don't think there would be firmware updates though.

There are updates. Firmware in some RH1's has a higher number than mine. Mine is 1.0 and I have seen reported here higher numbers than that one. I would like to be able to update mine to what is current, but it might not fit the hardware if SONY has made some minute change. Still love that little RH1. B)

I could see what they can change from the previous versions. My RH1 has minor bugs and glitches. But do you think they would provide a method to upgrade the firmware?

1. The little red light only flashes when the unit is booting up or actually writing, and there is no way to enable it for reading. The chip actually contains an output for a reading LED (green), but that is unused.

2. There are different firmwares for the RH1. The prototype had 0.960, the first release had 1.000, and the latest ones have 1.090. The exact version may only be seen from the service mode, the firmware menu item is useless, since it only shows the first two digits (1.0 for anything from 1.000 to 1.090). AFAIK, the firmware may only be upgraded by the manufacturer, or by a certified service center, not by a user, since the unit will have to be readjusted after flashing.
