markeolsen
HiI've had a portable minidisc player MZ-R91 for years now (I bought it in 2000) and its been great up till now. However recently the output volume has dropped off, so now on full volume it's only as loud as it used to be on 3/4 volume. This has made the player virtually useless as it's not lound enough to overcome background noise. I've tried the obvious, i.e new head phones, made sure AVLS is turned off ect but still can not find out what is wrong with it. I've always used the unit with AVLS turned on, so I don;t think I've damaged the output stages of the amplifier especially as the player still sounds OK just more quiet than it used to be.When the unit was new if I had AVLS turned off and cranked the volume up it would distort however now even on full volume now it doesn;t distort. It's almost like the player has got confused about it's own volume control!Has anybody got any ideas what might have happened, or heard of issues like this before. I'm hoping that the player can be saved as it's still in great condition.ThanksMark
