micknkeef
I'm a 10 year MD user that has updated to a mz-nh1, nw-hd3, and an nw-e505. I like the fact that SS(3.4) includes the basic divide/combine feature which I use to cut out certain parts of songs. Unfortunately, on my 1 year old dell, during the "rehearsal", when it jumps back to the beginning of the cut, there's a burst of audio which makes it very difficult to hear of the start point of the divide mark is exactly where you want it to be. I found this software at the Sony Style store for $70 and was wondering if it also includes the option of of dividing and combining both atrac and mp3 files? What other features are there that a basic editor such as myself might ues? Is there a way to upload my atrac3 files and spit them back onto a hi-md?I apologize in advance if this has already been discussed.

COOL EDIT seems to be very nice and was the defining standard in early 2000. Though I haven't used much, cause Nero takes care of my needs.I'll take a look whne I get home and let you know if it can read atrac. My guess is that it might not be do-able cause of Sony's proprietary atrac.
Ascariss
As far as I know, atrac isn't supported in sound forge, although I never checked fully, since i only use mp3s and wav files.the mp3s once opened up in sound forge are automatically converted into a file which is basically a wav file since it is rather large. You can edit it anyway you want in tthe program and the options are plenty. The program is tops when it comes to editing sound files, I use it all the time myself. JazzyBananas
I have SoundForge 8.it doesn't open atrac files, but can handle pretty much any other audio file format. kinda weird since it's 'SONY' soundforge...it does have an 'Export to NetMD' function though, and has all the functionality you could possibly want. i especially like the 'Batch Converter' tool.
