CONNECT Player and new Install

Ok, like some of you know, my CP was working fine for most of the time before the updates, and now after the updates I've had no serious issues, none what so ever, except speed.

Sadly my pc was a P3 600mhz back from the late 90's and wasn't the best pc to install CP on and even though I had plenty of ram, the program was rather sluggish for me. Now I somehow managed and got across over 800 songs and synced the device plenty times since install.

I was expecting to receive my bro's PC and he was going to buy a new one, well that didn't happen, instead I got a new pc.

So after putting it together and some technical issues, lol, I finally loaded XP on, and then did updates all the way up to SP2. Fine. Installed other stuff to get the pc running 100% and various other programs.

specs are:

Intel P4, 3.00ghz

1 gig of ddr 2 ram

lots of mem

and xp sp2

So today, I installed CP. I wasn't sure what to expect. I heard lots of people had issues on faster pcs so I was a bit cautious. Well popped in the cd and began to install, the update option took almost 2 hours, not sure why, but once it installed. I rebooted and decided to open up CP. No songs in the database yet as well.

The program opened in less than 20 seconds. :D Which was a nice surprise.

then I went to import my mp3 directory, only 880 or so mp3s, so not that many, took it less than 2 min to import it all.

Then I closed the program and wanted to see how long it would open with a database. well surprise surprise Sony, nah, it didn't take 20 seconds, nor a min, not even the 4 min I had before on my older pc.

It took a staggering 31 seconds to open fully and be 100% useable. B) How can this be? The program itself runs just as smooth as itunes and isn't sluggish one bit. Also hooked up a3000 and it synced in less than 2 min as well.

So I ask you now, am I blessed that everytime I use CP and install it, I have no problems? be it on an old pc or a brand new one? I doubt that. So why are people having problems with higher end pc's still?

Could it be that I use an intel chip rather than AMD? I don't think that is the issue. I'll give it to the CP team, with all the crap they had to put up, the updates and CP have actually come through and the program runs fine regardless of what reviews say.

So one more final favour to ask. People who use CP, please post up your pc specs and load up times of CP, I am curious to what you all are getting.

2 hours to updates

20 seconds to launch

less than 2 minutes for 800 songs

31 seconds to open fully and be 100% useable

On a p4 3.0 ghZ!!!! you don't see the problem?

2 minutes is the time needed to scan my 9450 songs on winamp

less than 2 seconds to launch on the same kind of computer you have...

So please don't tell me "why are people having problems with higher end pc's still? "

Connect player sucks that is all there is to say

You're comparing winamp to CP? ahahahahahaha Sorry but that's not correct, you can compare it to itunes, and it runs just the same as CP. Winamp is a stand alone player last time I checked, while wait for it, CP in addition to playing files, also has to move them over to the NW-As.

And yes people are having problems with CP, I should know, I was here from the beginning when CP was launched and had to deal with the same problems as everyone else.

So don't tell me that people did not have problems with CP on higher end PCs in the beginning when they did. End of story.

And no CP doesn't suck, it works fine, runs fine, and has no problems on my pc. The latest build is fine and imo there doesn't really need to be anymore updates.

AMD 64 3500+ 1GB RAM, 250GB HDD, Connect takes about 8 minutes to start, and another 3-4 before it's usable.

about 4000 MP3 and WMA tracks. :-(

It's got so bad, I have totally ditched Connect, and using purely SonicStage, and praying there will be a update soon to enable alll the non-functioning features.

If there is nothing in the next month, I think i'll take the unit back, as it's not fit for purpose. Not sure what to buy thou.. Perhaps the new Creative unit....

"Can not compare winamp with CP"? you are right, One is useable the other is not, (meaning CP is not useable ^-^)

Tell me one functionality that winamp does not have?

ipod, iriver, creatives and other players are supported only sony's are not because of their drm bs.

Itune runs just the same as CP? sorry but that's simply not true,

I had an ipod (that got stolen) and I was bitching about itune,^-^

But man after trying CP I shook my head and told my self "Man and I thought itune was bad..."

Still Itune is useable, again CP is not

"And no CP doesn't suck, it works fine, runs fine, and has no problems on my pc. The latest build is fine and imo there doesn't really need to be anymore updates."

Is that some kind of joke? can you really say that with a straight face?

You are telling me that a software that sends files to a device need at least a p4 3.0Ghz?

What is my father with is Athlon 600ghz suppose to do? run CP? ahah

He use is computer for web, emails and media playing (movies and podcast/radio/mp3 with winamp)
