Well, after a few more beers the guys started to look much better. Just don't tell me that you both fell prey to the joke! It's as easy as 1931! The heaviest part of it was to take the photo of two RH1s with "ERROR EE" on both, since they really did not want to flash it in sync.

Just remember the ancient legend (I have no idea about the language it is in):

"When the power supply is switched on in the state where all electrical adjustments have not finished, it is displayed on EL as "Error EE" and the usual operation can't be performed. When a power supply is accidentally turn off in the middle of electrical adjustments, it is again set as test mode and electrical adjustments is mode to complete."

And then try this: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showt...st&p=100285 - at least this one is in classic Russian English.

Well, ya know, some of us here Russians have already resoldered their European RH1s to make them sound even better!

P.S. I haven't.

Well, the joke has actually brought some more information to my attention. Address 1931 is used to control the process of adjusting and calibrating the unit. AFAIK, the address is set to 00 when the unit is manufactured (so it has to go through all adjustments described in the service manual). It is also set to 00 when you are unlucky enough to run the macro at address 0111 ResAll (Reset all - quite obvious, isn't it?). The value at the address is then sequentially increased, when all adjustment and calibration macros are completed. If I am not mistaken, the value is set to DF after all electrical adjustments (battery, charging, etc.) are done, and then set to FF after all (laser, etc.) adjustments are successfully completed.

All that was valid since the ancient times. But both my RH1s have EF at this address from the factory. When I set one of those to FF, nothing changes - it still works. Doesn't it look like the RH1s are not completely adjusted?
