 In a nutshell:

* Was using SS3.3 with no problems for my HD5 and NWE107.

* Upgraded to SS3.4 about a month ago. Seemed to go fine.

* My music collection is ALL directly ripped from CD (in SS3.3), Atrac3+/64 kbps, NO copy protection

* I just tried to transfer tracks to my NWE107 using SS3.4 for the first time.

* SS3.4 said it couldn't transfer to my NWE107 and I had to format or erase the HD

* I formatted the NWE107, erasing all tracks

* I try to transfer an album to the NWE107

* The tracks appear in the right-hand window. The transfer display (with % transfered) appears in the upper right of the SS window.

* After a few seconds, the transfer info disappears. A window appears entitled "Error". In the window is a message saying "the following tracks could not be transferred:" followed by a list of the tracks I tried to transfer.

* Tried a different album. Same ^$&^#^%@%$@^%$#*&#$

HELP! WHY can't I transfer my own *%*@%$@%$@* music to my own DAP?????

I'm leaving on a business trip early in the a.m. and don't have time to even deal with this. Which means I'm gonna be music-less.

THANKS SONY! (N*O*T*!!!!)

Any ideas? I even tried file conversion tool, and was told no conversion was needed.

I give up............

I have the same problem with all songs I did not purchase with this installation of SS 3.4. Previous songs that I purchased (well, used free coupon ^^) cannot be transferred after reinstalling/formatting my pc. Of course, I did re-authorize the pc. But all the songs have a remaining transfer count of 0. I asked connect support about this and they say, sorry we can't help you.

drmoze,

As i said before in the forum Always upgrade your SonicStage fromt he site from were you perviously upgrade your SoniCsTAGE.

mAY i ASK YOU FROM WHERE DID YOU DOWNLOAD YOUR SSver3.3 & SSver3.4 .

Right now you will need to import your tracks again in Sonic Stage other wise SS will not allow you to transfer htem to your network walkman.

Also always backup your data using SonicStage back-up tool.Wheter you upgrade your software or reinstall your windows or do anything wiht your Computer .

You can download your songs from the connect store again by going into your profile and looking for 'my downloads' or something like that. There is an option to download again. I had to do this when I installed 3.3 for the first time and lost all the licences for my tracks. Tho when I upgraded to 3.4 I did not have the same problem.

Hey Stuge, I honestly must have missed your earlier advice on upgrading SS from the same site. Not sure where I upgraded to 3.3 from (my players came with 3.1), but I made sure to note that the reinstalled 3.4 upgrade was from the official US site.

And I did 'solve' the problem by restoring y backup. (Yes, I DO periodically back up my library on an external HD.) I learned *that* much, at least, from my experiences with Sony software and DRM!!

As for other posts: although helpful suggestions are always welcome, it would be even more helpful to read the request. (Yes, I did go to the trouble of providing all pertinent details.)

So: GYM software is not an option because, as I noted, I use only ATRAC3+ encoding. GYM only works with MP3's. If I was satisfied with the gaps in mp3's and the poor sound quality at high compression, I would probably be using a non-Sony DAP. (Isn't this site called 'Atrac Life' anyway? )

Going back to the Connect store to reload tracks may be helpful for some people. As for me, I noted above that ALL of my music comes directly from my own CD collection, ripped into ATRAC3+ format.

And again, ALWAYS BACK UP YOUR LIBRARY *is* good advice!!!

is there any solution to this problem. must i uninstall ss3.4 and install 3.1 ? and upgrade again. thanks alot.

Freebird2003 ..If `im right you are unable to convert mp3 files to Atrac ??

So this post has nothing to do with your problem b`coz as Drmoze was not able to transfer Atrac tracks after upgrading .

Forget about converting every file to .wav ..As said before this is a big bug in SonicStage ...

Right now i can only say you either Install Sonic stage ver3.1 or Convert YOur mp3 files to mp3 files again (in the same bit rate & in this way you will not lose id tages also {This method also works}

I can understand your pain..:sad:

I have not idea that when we convert those mp3 to again in mp3 or .wav then they are easily converted to Atrac but the same original mp3 can`t be converted .:blink:

This is rather SHOCKING for me ...

freebird,

Have you tried importing any of your other MP3s into SS3.4. You said that you had done the same test as with SS3.1 i.e. one track?

It sounds like a very peculiar problem you have. If you have tried this, then you could try converting some of you files to a high bit rate WMA file - you will keep the tags and SS can import them?

My experience of music downloaded from Connect is the following - make sure your computer is registered to the user name that you downloaded your music from. Somehow, I have managed to set 2 accounts up in the past and some of my music was downloaded with one account and the rest on another. The consequence of this is that when you re-install SS and reinstate a backup, only music associated with the registered account will work.

Otherwise, it has not mattered to me where I have downloaded SS from, whether it be an Asian, US or UK site; I have had to change the registry to direct to the correct Connect store (e.g. Us download and I am in the UK), but otherwise no problems with licence management.

freebird2003,

I think it is better to stick to SSver3.1 in your case as you have lots of mp3 files ..

You can convert your music to Atrac 132kpbs which is much better than Atrac 3 plus 64kpbs .

You have 20gb hard disk ...

now i am juz wondering, what is the problem i went through. does that mean i can't upgrade to future version of ss anymore ? what is the steps i should take before upgrading to future version of sonic stage.

There could be a conflict between SonicStage and some of your existing (if there's any) codecs - one that comes to mind is the FFDSHOW. Remove this if it's present within your system.

As a safeguard, always utilize SonicStage Backup Tool before an upgrade. For your reference, SonicStage Backup Tool resides at: C:\Program Files\Sony\SonicStage\Omgbkup.exe
